Hey all--I've been researching in my spare time at work, and recently I've stumbled across many articles on how a mixture of Lavender, Thyme, Grapeseed Oil, Etc., has been shown to have significant results in regrowing hair for people with Alopecia. I've even found a recipe of how to mix all of the oils together. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts?

hey ive never heard of that, but sounds like its worth a try, if u can pass on the recipe, i'll give it a try,
Sure, the recipe is:
3 drops rosemary
3 drops lavender
2 drops thyme
2 drops cedarwood oil
4 teaspoons grapeseed oil
1/2 teaspoon Jojoba oil

Mix in a bowl, then massage on the scalp for 2 minutes. Wrap your head in a warm towel and leave overnight.
A woman I know who is using this recipe on her daughter said she has experienced some regrowth. Do you know how often you need to do it? My daughter still has some hair so when I put oil on her scalp it takes a couple of baths before it washes out well enough so that it doesn't look greasy so I wonder if it is counter productive...I'd love to hear more people's experiences with this.
I've been doing it on my daughter for a while, and yes, i couldn's take the greasiness it was leaving for days at a time. She lost 80% of hair starting in january and started some regrowth 3 months ago. We didn't continue with the oils, but the regrowth stayed. So i'm not quite sure if that helped or not.
That's great Ala, fantastic. I guess I'll try the recipe before school starts. Until now I've just been doing jojoba with lavendar. When you say regrowth, do you mean full regrowth or peach fuzz or??? How long did you use the oil mixture for? Thanks so much!
funny thing, i was using jojoba and lavender as well, not the full recipe. The regrowth started in 2 small patches with tiny little hairs that was her natural color. Then slowly the regrowth patches started to expand. The regrowth is much fuller in the back than front.
Ala.
Hi Jessica,
I am a holistic therapist and have been working with oils for many years. I have people asking questions from can you make a blend up for my stretch marks to the same question as yours. The ans. is yes I can make a blend up BUT no I am unsure if it would work. So many questions and so many ans. It could be one possibility and when the people apply the oils they could be stimulate the blood circulation in that area. This could mean re growth.
Oils these days are not so expensive so its worth giving it a try and informing us the out come.
I have four grandchildren and they suffered from head lice from school. I have tried to make oils up for this. Sometimes it worked then on other occasions it didn't ...So I am afraid to say noone can say the oils work.

I called into my local chemist and they were selling bio oil for stretch marks.... I asked did they have a bath full for me ..lol...Once again people say this works and some people say it doesn't But... Once again its worth a try...
Hope this helps...Sorry cant be more positive.
Please be careful how you use the oils as they are very strong. The normal amount is one drop of lavender to 5ml of carrier oil. Be also careful not to get into your eyes. Children and older people have thiner skin so you should use less strength oils...But also good luck with the trials of this recipe....
I will have a look in my books and see if I can find more info. on this for you all.
Julie.
