Has anyone talked to their doctor about these products and tried them? My daughter sees her doc next week and I am thinking of talking to her about it. Most of her hair has returned via treatment except for the lashes and brows thus far. Any thoughts you have are appreciated.

Attached is the full 8 page prescribing info supplied by Allergan, the pharmaceutical house that creates Latisse.
Or scroll down to the very bottom at Latisse.com and click on Prescribing info for the pdf.

The active ingredient is bimatoprost, prescription medication to reduce ocular pressure. It has potential side effects as all meds do. Lid darkening at the site of application may be reversible. No guarantees. Darkening of the iris to brown is not reversible. There are other ingredients in it to which anyone can potentially have a negative reaction but there is no way to know until something happens.

I like to consider potential consequences. A common but not serious effect in itself of using Latisse includes redness and itching. That leads to scratching. Scratching leads to opening the skin which provides an opportunity for infections.

Weigh the risks and benefits. No studies have been done on children.

Personally, if it were my child, there is no way I would be doing anything to mess around near my child's eyes.

I can recommend a reputable pharmacy (Lumigan) - http://medshop-365.com

Good price and quality.

Hi Ladies!
I purchased (from the derm who offered no promises) and tried the Latisse product for over 8 weeks. I have complete loss of the right upper lash and both brows. I'd hoped that at the very least, I could get everything to grow enough to restore the balance to my eyes. But it didn't work. No growth to the lashes or brows. This was an investment of over $120 with no results. So don't waste your money and never take a risk on a drug that was not tested on children. At time of purchase, you must sign an acknowledgment that you understand all of the side effects that BGDL mentioned in her message. It's the company's way of avoiding any litigation because you understood the risks.
Hugs,
Galena
I agreed with Galena. My daughter's derm prescribed Latisse to her about 2 weeks ago. She had more than 50% of her lashes left. Since then, she has a couple left and no new growth. She has not had any side effect. I am going to use the rest of the medicine then stop. I don't think it works on aa.

Hi, I agree with all here, I don't think the risk of eye color change alone would be worth it, I did talk to a opthamologist about it several month ago myself, and he said no way, I've only lost my lower lashes, but thought it would help, my lashes are growing back now on their own, my brows are a bit more stubborn, I lose large portions of them, spotty like head, but glad I'm a woman and can fill in, I use a great matte eyeshadow color that's perfect much better than brow pencil. I also use liner and shadow on lash line which helps look more even, I see were talking about a young girl so make-up may be a bit off for her right now. You mentioned that most of her hair returned with treatment, may I ask what treatments you used, and how much loss did she have? I have used a few treatments myself have found nothing to stop the shedding though, would love to hear what worked for her. Thanks Christine
Hi Christine, Samantha is doing squaric acid. Almost all of her has returned and she is wig free now. It took a few months before we saw any regrowth, but once it started it kept coming. She now has a few nail size spots and the hair at the base of her neck is now filling in. She is the baldest there, but you really can't tell because of the length of the rest of her hair. The doctor says this treatment tackles the entire immune system so I am hoping at some point she will get facial hair. She gets brow hairs, but they don't stay long. We see the doctor on Tues.
Hi, Cindy Thanks for the info re the squaric acid, I have read about this of course, but have not tried it myself, very interesting about it working on the immune system, I will definitely look into this more, I have used Clobetasol and this time around I'm trying the Minoxidil, I am in the midst of a shedding right now and several of the spots have begun to grow and fill in, which has never happened before, I usually stay bald for months after the shed has ended. I also lose at the base of neck, in the Ophiasis pattern, from everything I've read this area of loss tends to be the least responsive to any form of treatment, and sure enough is always the last place to fill in on me too, thankfully it is covered by the other hair. I am so pleased she has regrown, is this her only episode? I seem to cycle every season, or couple of years, and would love to find something that would tackle the underlying problem, I will look forward to hearing how it goes from here for her. Thanks again. Christine
Hi Christine, Samantha lost all of her by age 6. She is now 7.5 and has short hair. She has yet to loose any of the regrowth. There is an 80% success rate with this treatment and it is safe for long term use. The doctor has said we will continue to use until she regrows all of her hair or her body stops responding. Samantha has had some unique responses that gives the doctor reason to believe that Sam will be a success story with this treatment. If you view my profile you will see pics of different stages or regrowth. I need to update her pictures and haven't had the time. Good luck. Cindy
Thank you to everyone responding. I had these same concerns, but was curious about others thoughts. I would never risk my daughters eye sight for lashes. Cindy
