Well I thought I was going through menopause but the doctors say no/maybe/possible etc. When I was losing my hair 3 years ago I had an excess of body heat. I was hot all the time and in the winter months I was also cold at the same time...go figure. I saw an ayurvedic doctor and he was able to help me with the excess heat. I've had some minor patches of hair grow on my scalp and fall out again. I have a few eyelashes coming in now! Also there are times that I have issues with normal smells which are intolerable! Friends have a running joke about it and always ask me if I'm pregnant! Are these sympoms of menopause? I wonder!
Hi Paula,

I can relate to your question since I am going through perimenopause. I still have periods but they are very different than they used to be and I have lots of symptoms of peri.

I think the fluctuationg and/or declining hormones contribute to the hair loss. As the estrogen levels gradually decline it can affect our hair. A derm told me this is not unusual and that increasingly dry skin is also a result. I find that my eyes feel very dry and my nasal passages too (not an allergy or cold weather issue because it happens year-round and is most noticeable right before my period is due to start. The derm also told me it is not unusual for the hair to shed more during my period.

How has meno affected your hair?
