I am going to be truthful i find them painful emotionally and phisicaly and I constantly think about just stopping them and getting a wig but in my community you get a wig once your married so it's weird to get one before. The injection situation goes like this you have to be very strong, yes it's annoying when the doctors and friends tell you your strong and you don't feel like you are. You have to find a friend or therapist or family member who who fee comfortable enough to confide in when you are feeling down from alopecia.

OMG THAT REALL SUCKS!...SO LIKE WHAT KIND OF COMMUNITY DO YOU LIVE IN????? WHY DO U HAV 2 WEAIT TILL MARRIAGE?? AND WOULDNT THEY UNDERSTAND???

Hey,
Are you Orthodox cause you sound like it from this post and i am looking for people in my circles with alopecia to start a group

No, but I have been to Israel and I liked the scarves there, so I looked up this site once and remembered it. I thought you might want to ask those sites your questions about being able to wear a wig even though unmarried. Maybe they could put you in touch with a rabbi to give clarification.

i guess i was not clear. I am definitly allowed to wear a wig i will just feel awkward and uncomfortable so if the fill in powder is working along with the injection, meds and biotin i might as well use that
thanks

o ok lol well yea that makes alot of since

No im areata

Hey Tiaira, I got the injections too. You can get a numbing cream from your specialist, or you SHOULD be able too. It doesn't take ALL the pain away, but it makes a BIG difference. Also, if you go for the injections watch out for scalp pitting. I had a doctor do mine and she was just learning and did them too deep and my scalp got all pitted and thin. I honestly thought if I cracked my head too hard in PE class or any sports I played that I could get severely injured or something. Deep pitting isn't supposed to happen with them. I was getting injections for 6 years before they stopped working, and while getting them is physically and emotionally taxing, once you see the difference it's totally worth it.

:)

(sorry to butt in on this convo, just thought I'd let you know about these things)

No problem so did some of your hair grow back?

They also have a cold spray but that hurts more then the injections and the numbing cream makes your hair gross so I just do it without anything and I tolerate it.
Thanks though.

I have had AA for about 8 months. I first noticed a patch in the under part of my hair, I thought it was due to excessive bleaching. I then got another one on the crown of my head and I realized something was wrong. I have been getting the injections and steroid typical ointment. I started seeing hair growth after 3-4 Weeks. I get the shots every 6 wks and have only had to rounds. So far its been successful, but obviously nothing is for sure.
Also my injections slightly hurt nothing major.
