My 12 year old son tried the steriod cream for 3 weeks with no results:(. He had a dermatologist appointment today and they did a squaric acid treatment on him. Please share any info or personal experiences you have with this treatment. I just don't want to give my hopes up - all feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

As you will know at this time there are no cures for alopecia areata. The treatments that are available never guarantee hairgrowth and for that hairgrowth to stay.

I have never heard of squaric acid being a tried and true answer for alopecia. I feel if it worked extremely well everybody would be here with the results. I'm afraid it doesn't.

Just as a help for you, my daughter has regrown and lost her hair 5 times in the last 9 years. That is sometimes how alopecia goes for people. I have never used treatements or medications for her, alopecia has just done what alopecia does - be unpredictable.
