Hey Billy,

Have you ever tried Biotin ( Vit. B 7)? That may help!

Heather
no I haven't sometimes i can just put on a jacket and they tear start bleeding then become sore. thank you for anwsering
Yes, I have noticed that when I religiously take a womens multi vitamin it helps. It makes my nails stonger and they grow a lot faster.
thank you it's worth a try
My nails are ridged, no pits though, and they are thin, and breaking off everyday. They stay sore, but because they have broken (or been torn off) into the quick. OUCH!
I've had a lot of issues with ridges, splitting, bleeding etc. I started playing classical guitar and its important to have a right hand with fingernails. So, I started doing a few things and magically - my right hand nails seem "normal" . My left hand - I still treat it as I did in past and I still have issues. You might want to try some of my ideas - it really works - my right hand nails are long! (Knock on wood)

- I stopped using an emery board to shape the nails - even if the file is labelled for "sensitive, weak" nails - it will still shred the nails and you'll end up with splitting nails
- I use car sandpaper - 1000 Grade - I place it over a file or a block of foam and just buff the nail lightly to shape it. I learnt this trick from classical guitarists. It works! My nails are not ripping and splitting anymore.
- I rub cream into the nails constantly and protect them from water and excess paper
- i use ridge filler - it seems to help - it fills in the ridges and i don't get those painful cracks in the beds that leave your fingerbed bleeding and sore!
I put jajoba oil on them daily..TAKE BIOTIN AND DRINK HORSETAIL AND NETTLE TEA
Mike - i found 5000 mcg of Biotin daily really burned (hurt!) my stomach. Is there a smaller dosage one could take? I also wondered about the tea - do you drink it daily? I'd like to try horsetail/nettle mix - is it a pre made blend?
The horse tail my wife uses on her toenails she got a infection under her big toe and it's much better
When i first got A i lost a few of my nails entirely and even toe nails threatened to "jump ship". I got big white patches that appeared to be the nails delaminating from the finger near the cuticle area that slowly grew downwards until there was no bond left. I still dont know if it was the Saw Palmento that I was recommended to use or just that my conditioned improved but they grew back and stabalised, still weak though and I have to keep them very short to prevent breaking, they also remain ridged.
I keep mine very short to keep them from breaking thank you
