My daughter has been AU since October 2009 and we have just discovered new growth on the top of her head. She also has stubble on her legs and a couple of eyelashes and eyebrows that are white. This really feels like a positive sign. She has been on Sulfasalazine 3gm since mid April. We drop her off for college today, this has been such a roller coaster year . I will keep you posted on the growth. Susan would not let me quit the sulfasalazine when I wanted to a month ago so THANKS. Even before we discovered the growth she has beautiful wigs and is coping so well.

I hope that she continues to do well! It sure does sound promising and I wish her and you the best! Please, keep us posted!
What is Sulfasalazine? What is the thought that it might help?
Thanks!
You can google it and find the studies and then take them to your dermatologist. It is not a sure cure by any means but has shown some promise. It has been around for years to treat other autoimmune conditions. The problem with alopecia is now we are not sure it is a result of the meds or from the stress from a break-up and move to college that caused her hair to grow.
