My hair has been coming and going for a long time now but luckily mostly at the back under my pony tail, but lately it seems to be in a downward spiral and I may have to bite the bullet and look into wigs etc but where to
start? Advice please? I love my huge collection of hats but that looks weird in a office envioronment, I also mainly work with men who lack tact and compassion.
Can Any Australian members suggest any good places to buy from in Melbourne as natural as possible?
I'm lucky that I can just about get away without it but I would love more hair and no paranoia.

Try them on at a good wig shop. Think of moods, events in your life, an image you want to project, the versatility of a given style, hiding a fakey hairline with bangs, any needs for ear tabs to work with glasses, coverage of the netting, hand-tied or mono, and color under flourescent vs natural sun light. You can order two- or three-tone for a more natural look (ask for swatches...and see then in the sun, too. Some reds are TOO bight in sunlight). There are many reasons why trying on is better than blind ordering...you may even photograph yourself or have a friend along to talk with you. First impression/rejection may change with a third party opinion, styling suggestions, or time to think before buying. Frankly, I have more fun imagining a "new me" with a different color or style (see my page): it takes me away from a me I may not have liked or a memory/experience/taunt I may want to forget. THE HOTTER THE WIG, THE LESS THE RUDE COMMENTS!
M daughter wears all lace wigs. We now order from a chinese web site at a fraction of the cost. You may want to start at a wig shop but if you want to order wholesale once you are comfortable with the process message me and I will give you the websites that we have used. You will need to have a stylist that can help you if you order over the internet. It is quite overwhelming at the beginning but it is a normal part of life to my daughter now. Let me know if I can help.
Hi Sappho

A good place to start is the Alopecia World Marketplace Resource Page. Or if you like someones hair on Alopecia World ask them were they got it from. Once you get a few names make an appointment to have consultations and see which one makes sense for you. Make sure you ask them all of your questions at the consultation.
A few questions to ask
How long will this piece last?
Do I need to wear tapes or glues?
Do you have any before and after photos I can look at?
Do you have a sample of the cap?
Ask to see a sample of the hair. The hair should feel like your own hair.

I hope that helps
