Hi All!

I am new to this site but not new to alopeica. I love hearing how everyone copes with this disorder. I myself have a rough time with it! I keep it a secret from my kids because I dont want them to worry about getting this when they get older because if I would have had a mother with this, I would have worried every day that i would get it too. So everyday I worry about the secret being revealed. I just got a Peggy Knight wig (after saving up for it for a long time) and now can finally stop worrying about my kids accidentally pulling it off and I can finally ride a roller coaster again! I would love any advice on eyebrows, wigs, etc. that they have found helpful. Its so nice to speak with others who have alopecia like me. Because it is only someone who has it who can truly understand what it is like! Blessing to all!

The statistics on inheriting alopecia say its very rare. You must be so strong to be going through this on your own.

...I just realised I have nothing at all to say that would count as helpful advice, but if you ever want to talk, we're all here :) this site is brilliant for reaching out to people who totally get it.
I love my eyebrow tattoos, talk to people who have had eyebrows done in your area to find a good artist, and talk to the artist aswell. The artist should be someone that spends the time in stenciling them in, making sure they are even, spaced and styled like you want them. But seriously it was the best thing I did for myself.
I would love to get my eyebrows done by a tatoo artist. It would have to be light, hair-like lines. Is that the way it was done for you? I like Audrey Hepburn's eyebrows. Well, that's something I'll have to look in to. First to find a good artist. Thanks for the encouragement.
Audrey Hepburn's look is fabulous. She is role model for me, by her class, and elegance. But no, my eyebrows were done in very dark brown...not black. They do fade out after a while. Mine are almost 2 years old, and just starting to look like it may need a touch up, but nothing that a pencil wont take care of. Some peoples eyebrows fade faster, dont know if it just the person's body or the type of ink used in the tattooing. Check out my profile pics to see my eyebrows if you wish.
Hello Robin,

Welcome to our world, we are so glad you joined. Each one teach one and boy do we need each other. The below is a site, so many people talk about all the time, http://www.headcovers.com/cosmetics/eyebrows/
One of our sister here at AW, just Love them. check it out! These eyebrows are pasted on. Wow
thanks so much for the warm welcome Angie, I will definitely check the site out. Right now I do have my own eyebrows, but they seem to come and go just like my hair. At the present I have no hair on my head so I am shocked (bit happy) that my eyeborows have not yet fallen out (though they have thinned a litttle). I am so jealous of people who ahve to wax their eyeborws - what I wouldnt give to have that problem LOL.

Your Welcome Robin! My brows are thinned also. They itch and hurt;I'm scared to touch them. I keep saying I'm going to order thoses brows just in case. Hope just make me keep forgetting.
Hi Robbin! Welcome to the site...I am a new member too. I don't have alopecia, but one of my sisters does. I have joined so that I can be more educated on what it's like to have alopecia. I want to be able to be good support for her and to have a better understanding of the emotions and stresses that go along with having alopecia. As a mom myself, I can understand why you wouldn't want to worry your kids. As moms, we are so protective of our kids! I'm glad that you are happy with your new wig. Funny, my sister just got the 'gripper' from Peggy Knight! She called me the day that it arrived and was just so thrilled with how it looked and felt - not to mention that it won't come off - I was soooo happy for her. What kind do you have?
Anyhow, I haven't been a member for very long, but I hope that you find this site helpful and comforting.
