Hey everyone! :)
I was just diagnosed with Alopecia Areata about a month ago. My hair dresser actually noticed a bald patch about the size of a quarter two months before I was diagnosed. The bald patch is now the size of a golf ball. I received Kenalog steroid injections in August but had to return to my dermatologist two weeks later when I discovered three new spots. Two of the new spots are the size of dimes and one the size of a quarter. I'm so confused and don't know how to react to all of this. Should I expect all of my hair to fall out? Or is my hair likely to grow back in? I don't lose any hair in the shower but do lose hair when I brush my hair. My hair also sheds throughout the day. Any advice on hair care and/or product recommendations would be appreciated! Thank you!

Unfortunately, this is a wait and see game. Rogain for women might be a good start. Years ago I had a boss that had a few spots develop and then filled in and that was the end of it.
My daughter however started out with spots and it did spread to Alopecia Universalis. Everyone is different. I think I knew it was going to spread when I saw her losing the hair on her legs and arms. She was a pretty hairy kind of person. This is a very hard time not only for you, but for your family so please do not stress to early. How I learned to deal with this as a mother is be be sure that if she lost her hair she would have the best wigs possible which took me to Qingdao China to visit factories and learn all I could and then find a supplier that had quality hair and pricing that would not lead us to the poor house. I wrote about this adventure last year for those on AW to read. All my best to you at a time that I know can be very difficult.
