Hi all,

Im looking for a bit of advice as to what to ask my doctor.

I finally got a doctor's appointment (I'm living in Germany) and now that Olumiant is available on prescription here I'm ready to give it a try.

I have been struggling with alopecia all my life off and on and currently I'm pretty much hairless all over including eyebrows and lashes.

Apart from the alopecia I am healthy but have some arthritis here and there.

As most doctor's that I have seen over the years have basically no idea about this condition and that German isn't my first language would anyone know what to ask for so that I come away with a prescription?

Any advice would be helpful as I am not really good at communication when it comes to explaining my condition.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! My daughter has had AU since age 6. She just started the medication in august 2022 and has lashes, brows and hair growth on 80% of her scalp.
she has routine blood work and no side effects so far.

Thanks for the reply, that's very encouraging.

Good luck to your daughter.

How old is your daughter now

how long did it take for the olumiant to start growing noticeable hair on top of her head. I am going on month 4 day 1 with nothing really besides a little peach fuzz

you can google translate this article and show it to your doctor.  My son has just started after the blood test.
He was using Dupixent before, His hair including eyebrow came back about 65%.. now we are switching to Olimiant.

All the best,

Thank you, I will have a good look at it.

There is a Facebook group called Jak inhibitors for alopecia.
Very rich source to get all the info about the effects of different JAK inhibitors/ the ones who are on trials/ and Alopecians who are on JAKi for a long time. You can find everything you want to know in that group

Thanks for that info, I have just requested to join that group.

Could u give a link this group, please?

Super. I do a trial in Germany and I am from Holland. I email all the questions I have. For me it’s hard because I do not speak German that well either. I use Google translate to mail them.

Hello,

I’ve had AU (Total hair-loss) since I was 6 now I’m 37yrs, I was on Xeljanz for a while and doctor just switched me to Olumiant 15 days ago.

Just be sure you do all test needed before going through with the medication. Read the side effect that could be caused by it, although my doctor said that Acne is a must in the beginning for most patients. Its a much easier way of treatment than everything i’ve used before.

(Vitamins D, Iron must be all in good range)

its too early for me to say anything until the 3 months mark,  but I had some hair growth while on xeljanz, good luck for all of us.

Don't forget Minoxidil. I only saw good growth after starting Minoxidil.
