Well I went into Seattle today for a consult for a Follea gripper. Feeling a bit nervous now, I tried on One that was really long, not my style at all I prefer a long bob, but got an idea how the fit will be. I still have some hair, but they said I could wear it with the hair I have, I was all set to shave it, but the gal there said that I didn't have to right away, does anyone else have the Gripper? They claim that they really stay put, which makes me feel much more secure. I have not been wearing a wig so this is a big step for me, they are so expensive, but I've seen post on here that someone said theirs lasted for years, sure hope that's true. I would love to hear from anyone who has one, or been through this.

Hi Christine

I have both a Gripper and a Freedom Vacuum piece. I, by far, prefer the Freedom piece. I have sent it away right now to be serviced which it really didn't need, but I thought I would do it now while my Gripper was some what new. I have found that the gripper started out really nice, but as time goes on it's getting a worn look (and yes I take care of it the way I was told). And yes it can be pulled off, especially if your head is a little bit sweaty. In my opinion, I'm not sure they are worth the money that I spent on the Gripper. I am now saving for another Freedom piece, it doesn't move unless you break the vacuum seal. This is my opinion, I had Alopecia Universalis since 1997, so I have done every wig route there is an I will stick with Freedom.

Hi Christine

Me again. If you have already ordered a Gripper, you'll be happy. I wasn't trying to turn you off of it, I was just saying that I prefer the Freedom vacuum piece. The Gripper is by far better than your average wig. Good luck.

Hi Tara, yes I did already order it, and got it a week ago, for some reason I thought I should wash it, a lot of product was in it, I'm having trouble styling it right now, hope I get better at it, the darker color is growing on me, I did get a pretty sweaty head out on a walk in unusually hot weather, we don't get that much, I did feel I could slide it around, but it would need to be pulled off, not just wind blowing, I did like that it was not hot, which the one other wig I had was, even when it was cold, do you find the freedoms to be warm? The
hair is silky soft, and has a bit of natural body to it, something my stick
straight hair did not, which may explain my styling issues, I'm really up and
down right now, feel good one minute and sick to my stomach the next, but I guess
doing the big "buzz off" and having someone else's hair on my head is bound to
need getting use to...lol thank you for your input, depending how my AA
progresses I'd like to check out the vacuum wigs in the future, wish we had a way
to try the caps and see if we tolerate them, I feel bad enough spending over two
thousand, and I'd be a basket case at over five thousand.. worrying myself to pieces....one good thing with the stress I'm not eating:)
