Obviously, hair loss can be very traumatic and cause an assortment of negative consequences. I'm not trying to downplay that or tell anyone how to feel.

However, it's been my experience that focusing solely on the negative aspects of my condition blinds me to any silver linings. :)

Does anyone have any pros due to their hair loss?

Here are a couple of mine:

1). I learned to be more accepting of others

2). My niece thinks I'm cool because of my "magic brows" (no you see them...)

3). Superficial dates weed themselves out and I've been left with the kindest guy ever

4). Halloween costumes are more fun and dramatic (I was Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy)

5). I learned to be more accepting of myself

There are no pros.

Cons

1. Women think you are ugly.

2 Women think you are ugly.

3.Women think you are ugly.

4. Women think you are ugly.

Oh I'm sorry you feel that way Andrey. If you never discover any pros I hope you find it easier to cope with the

"cons".

Though I doubt every woman finds men with hair loss ugly, maybe you haven't met the right one?

Bald men are much more accepted than bald women. Just remember at least you have that.

Sure they are sweetie. If they were, the male hair loss industry wouldn't be worth billions of dollars.

Andrey is so loser.  He wouldnt be able to date an old goat even if he had a ton of hair :)

Aimee those are really good ones, I hadn't even thought about grays no longer being an issue!

Thanks for sharing! :)

Totally agree with point 3). I really meet nicer guys now and do need to bother about these guys who do not have enough sympathy (and who are not ready to marry anyway).

Thanks for starting this topic Shaina! It is really great to see some pros in all that!

Thanks Alicia I'm glad that you enjoyed the topic!

And yes #3 is the best in my opinion. :)

Again, a really great a topic. I enjoy reading all these posts here!

1. If it gets hot, I can take my hair off.

2. If my hair gets wet, I can take it off (likewise, I can shower right before heading out and have perfect, dry hair).

3. I can model for my children that looks don't define the person.

4. I can try different hair lengths that I never would have dared with my bio hair.

5. I also don't have to make decisions about dyeing gray hair.

6. If a kid pulls my hair, it doesn't hurt.

7. I feel justified wearing orange hair for Halloween, green for Christmas, pink for Valentine's day....

8. I am encouraged to focus on what I can control as my body ages (I'm closing in on 50, so this is very real).

9. If there is hair in the drain or stuck in the vacuum rotor, I can blame my husband.

10. Because, once I get to 9, there might as well be a 10 -- I can shave my head and have people think I'm much cooler than I am.

Thanks for the good topic. I really have to be able to laugh at alopecia once in a while.

GardenJess I'm glad you enjoyed the topic! Thanks so much for sharing, I especially liked #9!

3) U can scare some people, albeit not all

4) No bad hair day again!

5) No worries concerning androgenetic alopecia for men

6) No dandruff again

7) Save money on styling products, shaving kits etc
