I have been wearing a Jon Renau wig for 3 months now.  Supposedly it is of good quality European human hair with a lace front.  I totally HATE it.  The hair is straight, course & of one colour.  The lace front is scratchy, the back part behind my ears is painful.  The velcro at the rear no longer stays put.  I am contemplating permanently stitching the velcro in place.  Is this advisable?  I am also wondering if anyone on this site has purchased a human hair wig (reasonably priced) that has some whitening to it.  My natural wavy dark brown hair was whitening at the sides & temple area so do not feel comfortable wearing a wig that has no whitening or at least streaks.  BTW, I hate this alopecia thing!!!

Thanks so much for sharing all of your comments Carla!

I have a market research question.

Could I please ask you about the company that you bought it from?

Q: Have you received any follow-up or given feedback to this Wig supplier?

thank you in advance
I'm bald but the purpose of my question is because I'm doing MR as a student

kind regards

A lot of human hair wigs are one dimensional unless you have custom made or have streaks added by a stylist.

I would say to do whatever you need to the wig so that it is comfortable.  A lot of people have to customize the fit of their wigs.  You also might have to curl the straight hair a bit to soften the look.

You give such good advice and lots of experience,  I have started to  hate  my synthetic wig.  It is long in back so it gets pretty matted and tangled -uh!

i want real hair wig I guess.....

Any long hair will mat whether it is synthetic or human hair.  Heck, I have trouble with one that barely reaches my shoulders.  In fact, shortened the length just the other day so it wouldn't be such a mess.  Just like in real life, long hair takes lots of work.

Hi kimk,

I have a HH wig, shoulder length.  I have not found mine to tangle or mat.  I shampoo & condition it inside out with the hair all going in one direction.  Then I put it on a mannequin & comb it starting at the base (bottom ends 1st) with a VERY wide tooth comb.  Then I put it on to part where I want it & return it to the mannequin until mostly dry.  Then I roll it, adding some water from a spray bottle & leave in conditioner.  I'm no expert at this, but hopefully this helps for you.

Thanks for your reply.  My stylist has cut my wig 2x's now in order to minimize some of the pouf.  There still seems to be so much hair on it though.  I do curl it after washing &  then just maintenance curling in between washes.  My stylist will not colour or steak it & she has a lot of experience working with wigs because she once worked in a care facility.  I have trimmed the lace front down a few times but what remains still feels scratchy on my forehead.  My skin is very sensitive anyways & has always been that way.  I will try cutting off the velcro & hand stitching the band at the back.

Hi Carla,

Your Jon Renau wig can be "repaired" and "customized" for you if you contact your Jon Renau consultant. Since you've just had it for 3 months they should be able to "fix" it for you.

If you purchased it ready-made and not custom to fit your head perfectly, it could be that the wig is a little too big; this is probably why the ear tabs are irritating the back of your ears, and the lace is irritating your forehead.

I would contact your consultant and have them take care of this for you.

Peace.
