Hair color does not cause alopecia so it probably will not hurt anything. However if you color your hair and continue to shed you will probably blame that.

thanks jen for the add, yes it is hard enough for me at the momment as for you too, mine has been going on for four months now AA but it is still shedding, patches everywhere appearing at the mo.the largest on my left side, which has merged into one. if you dont mind me asking how long have you had AA,and did your hair ever grow back? i think soon i am going to take t off,it destroys me to see my hair everywhere. also my hair is like straw even when i wash it,is this normal for AA? you just think why me.i am a lot better about it now, still have my upset momments but there are good wigs out there too.kind regards sharon.:)

Jen can you lighten your hair or is it best to use semi colour maybe wash in and out.
Hey im a hairstylist also! Im 25 ive had alopecia since i was like about five i had a little spot witch grew back and never came back i went to beauty school and and started doing hair then when i was about 22 i started experimenting with color i dyed it dark then later stripped it and put highlights then within months in started falling out i really do think it was related to all the stress i put on my hair it was virgin then i started messing with it i also blame birth control pills!! Now im 25 and about 85% has grown back so im just praying for the rest to grow keep growing so in my opinion i would just stay away from harsh dyes especially bleach try and use very low ammonia color
Thank you Angelica I will take on board what you have said because before mine started to fall out I had had a treatment on at a hairdresser and I then bought the product myself and did another at home six weeks later. My hair started to fall out not long after, the doctors said it was nothing to do with the hair product but it was through stress, but I have always thought it was a bit of a coincidenc. So I think I will do what you suggest and live with what I have. Best wishes to you.
