My son is 11 and has lost all his hair. The treatment is starting to work and we see little blonde hairs starting to grow in all over. But it has been more than two months since it started to grow in and you can still barely see it (he still looks bald). I don't know why it takes so long, but does anyone know how long until we really start seeing it?

hello Katie,
I am 32 year male from India having AU ,i want to know which treatment u start for ur son?
regards
Hi Katie
Nobody can answer your questions. Everybody that gets alopecia has a different prognosis. My daughter in the last 10 years has grown her hair back 5 times (lost it six times). No medication or treatments were used ...her alopecia goes into natural remissions on a regular basis. This is not an unusual thing to happen to those with alopecia.
At this time there is no known cure or effective treatment. (There is some good research being done at the moment...but at this time nothing concrete has been found which would work effectively and is available for use).
Your son may stay with the vellus hair...or it may continue to grow and turn into terminal hair...it may fall out again...it may stay forever...nobody knows.

I just did :) ,
"IF" it's going to all grow back it will take roughly 5 months from bald to hair
