I'm experiencing unprecedented regrowth, and want to hear about your similar experiences. I have had AU for almost 4 years now, first onset being in my mid-thirties. Possibly there was a link between my stressful job and the hair loss -- I've been away from that situation now for almost a full 3 years. I've been using turmeric (golden paste - supposedly good for anti-inflammation) in the past few months and that's all I've been doing differently than normal. I have tried about everything for varying periods of time over the last few years!
I now have patches of thick, dark hair coming in all over my head, (not connected...yet?) and I'm growing eyelashes and a bit of body hair here and there. I know from reading, not to be too optimistic or get attached, as it comes and goes. But this is something I haven't seen before, and it's all coming in at once.
What are your experiences with regrowth and AU?

No, I don't take them - yet. Just turmeric. Anyone have recommendations?
Do you have a link to the probiotic brand you're using?

I take Florajen 3 which is excellent. I get it at Walmart but it is available a quite a few places.
Hi there, just to clarify, 30 billion? Or 3 billion? What brand do you use? My daughter has tons of food allergies so I get some at whole foods but they only have 3 billion units
I think it will just vary. I had AU since I was 8 and only had one major regrowth (with 3 big patches of hair but it went away after 3-6mths) when I was 23 and i'm now 25. I've taken tumeric orally and applied it but I don't see any difference but everyone is different.
Thanks for the info. I have no idea what to expect - all I know is there seems to be no way to predict! It's weird because I've just gotten to the point of being done with wigs and happy with my bald head and now there are big dark patches I have to shave :) Not complaining, just takes some readjusting for sure!
I don't have any dark patches that are even noticable. My eyelashes are in the stage now where it wants to fall out or grow. Since August I had to wear fake eyelashes everyday and it made my morning routine so annoying. I already have to draw, fill in and blend my eyebrows so it made it a pain. Now i'm pretty used to the eyelashes that everynight when I wash my face I feel weird not seeing lashes on in the mirror. My hair on my head still wants to stay transparent. I still think it's odd when it comes out white then turns black but I'm told that is normal. Right now I'm fed up with my bob cut wig and wanna go back to long hair though,
I absolutely believe that turmeric helps. I developed alopecia for the first time last september. My diet was awful full of sugar, alcohol, dairy, simple carbs, lots of fast food, and my stress was really high. My spot grew fast to about 3 inches around in 3 months. My scalp was really itchy hot and angry especially in the actual bald spot. I focused on cleaning up my diet, sitting in the sunshine daily, I started drinking turmeric in lemon with ginger as well as taking a concentrated turmeric supplement. I also started taking probiotics, drinking loads of kombucha, and taking an anti-inflammatory supplement. It didnt happen over night but after 60 days I started noticing peach fuzz and now black hair has started coming back. Its slowly filling back in. I went on vacation and fell off my diet, I drank alcohol and ate dessert like crazy, in a month my scalp got aggravated again and my hair started coming back out. I immediately started my diet again, which is expensive and difficult to stay on but the hair loss stopped again and has started filling in again. I 100% believe this is a diet/ gut inflammation issue for ALOT of people. Its so hard to stick to the diet but I would rather eat clean and keep my long dark hair.
