Okay... I'm new to alopecia world! Hello all! I've had mpb for a little over two years! It's been very traumatic for me . I'm a single mom of two kids and the last thing I need is more stress!! Right ? So I have a quick question . If you have male pb do you use Rogaine for men 5% and if you have female pb do you use Womens 2% ?? I have another dermatologist appt next month. I've been using clobetasol gel for around 5 months now. I really dislike it but it does help when I get the annoying scalp itch and scalp pain . I have so Many questions and I feel like my Derm never really answers all my questions.... Thanks for the time ..... Eve

Hey Eve,

I don't know much about this alopecia, I'm just taking one month at a time like all of us. I do know this, if you are not getting answers from your derm, you should seek another one. These Derm don't know, because there is no cure, but they don't want us to lose hope or some don't want to stop making money off of us. I'm a lady and I use 5% as directed by my derm. Don't use if you are preg or trying to get preg.
I agree , I need a second opinion. My derm told if my hair is going to fall out then there's nothing he can do. I really didn't know how to react to that comment. Anyway, I just try to think positive.
Eve, what kind of alophica do you have? I have alophica areta and there science don't know for sure where and how it develops and there is not cure. my body turned it on and my body have to turn it off.
When I was at a NAAF meeting a while ago, I asked about 5% Rogaine. Supposedly it can cause hair growth on the face as well. Also, it is not recommended to get pregnant while using 5% or try to get pregnant. It takes longer to get out of your system.
That is tue what heather said,I do get hair on my face, I just what dr oz said" Shave" no I don't get hair bumps.
Hi,
I have used both womens 2% and Men's 5%. My doctor told me to start out using the men's once in the day and women's the other time. I got tired of using both so I started using only the men's. It irritated my scalp after a while so I changed to using only the women's. I never grew facial hair. I believe it helped me for sure. After 8 years of using it, it just didn't work as well so I stopped. I would suggest you try the women's drops especially if you have sensitive skin. I hope it helps!!
I wonder if my head itch, because of the 5% rogaine? someone told my sister that rogaine took her out, well what you guys think? lie or not?
I've been using Rogaine 2% for about 4 weeks now and have noticed hair growth near the hair line but not on my scalp yet where I want it the most :( lol. I did have dry itch and irritation and first but now not so much. I did shed more on my scalp when i started which made that more irritating. I just pray for it to work. Good luck !
My daughter's derm said Rogaine 5% but it did not help. Her hair is growing back now on its own. She was on sulfasalazine for a while which may have stimulated the growth but she is off of everything now.
I have been using rogain foam 5% for 7 months. I started with the liquid 5% which is cheaper but caused severe itch. I changed to the foam, much better. I had the dread shed which lasted about 2 weeks then stopped completely now I hardly have any shed. I am only applying to the top and began really noticing regrowth around 5-6 months. By the 6th month I had all of this hair about an inch long standing straight up. It is laying down a bit better now that it's getting longer but I have had amazing results. I didn't experience any face hair or if I did ,not bad as I wax my lip and stuff anyway. Even if you don't experience great results, Minox is supposed to halt further loss. As for seeing results within a couple of weeks, I don't think so, think about it, hair doesn't grow that fast. It is a slow process.
