I am sorry you are going through this difficult time right now. I also have AA that reoccurs time and time again. I am currently on my 4th bout f sever hairloss.
Unfortunately there does not often seem to be a pattern and I certainly cannot really sport one with my hairloss and regrowth. Though it might be worth talking to a doctor about what you have noticed with your blood work. I cannot myself say if it means anything and that there is something that could help stop the fallout out as I'm not an expert but what I can tell you is that you are not alone and you can find some wonderful support in this community. It might be worth searching through the forums to see what diets etc have helped others but I must warn you that for many people treatments and special diets do not work. I don't say this to be mean just so that you don't get your hopes up too much as I know that that is the difficult thing with AA like how we have it, your hairloss stops and your hair grows and you get your hopes up and then it all happens again. But I do think you should do some research and give things a try as you will always be wondering what if or not.
Good luck with everything! xxx
Hi
Lets face it Alopecia 'Sucks'...but you don't. Because you are a pragamatic person I would definately try to be proactive around what you want to do. At this time there is no known effective cure. Yes, Cortisone/Prednisone does work, but you can't stay on those drugs long term, so unless you are in a natural remission your hair will fall out again once you stop taking those medications.
Vanity isn't really at play here. I believe it is more about lack of control. If you could be told that you would loose your hair every year for the next five....you would hate it but you would work around this and make life decisions to help yourself. But because you have no control and are sort of waiting to see what will happen, it becomes paralyzing...you start to feel helpless. That is a horrible place to be.
My daughter has regrown and lost her hair 6 time in the last 11 years. We don't focus on her hair coming and going as she just can't control that. What we do is focus on is, what we can control. Work out what you want to do in all areas of life while dealing with your hairloss. How do you want to present yourself...scarf, hat, wig...nothing. Your choice. How are you going to explain this to people? Do you want to explain this to people? Start doing the preparation on what's next.
Find answers for yourself.... and know without a doubt you can do this and do it well.
Hugs
Rosy
