Anyone have any tips on how to take care of your scalp? I'm completely bald and totally over wearing hats and I want my scalp to look its best. Any suggestions would be appreciated! :)

Thanks! Does the oil leave your scalp greasy at all?

I'm having the hardest time finding it!!

Try grapeseed oil. Its also not really greasy and its really good for your skin. My dermatologist told me to use it and my skin everywhere thanks me for it. Add essential oils for scent of your choice.

Thanks for the tips, especially about the sunscreen! Burnt ears doesn't sound fun!

I usually apply my Neutrogena SPF 15 Moisturizer to my face, neck, scalp, and don't forget your ears!

Thanks Jeffrey! I got the Neutrogena Moisturizer that you suggested and I love it!

Excellent! Sometimes I use Head Blade moisturizer with the matte finish so my head isnt so shiny.

I like to use facial scrub to wash my head sometimes, it leaves your skin so soft and clean! I personally used "AOK Pur Balance Seesand Peeling" - a German brand I believe - and Vichy. But any nice peeling product will do :)

To all of you brave enough to go bald in public... I am in awe. Now around the house.. no worries. Too many bad embarrassing moments in my child hood ... Just cannot do it!

I felt the exact same way when this happened to me. I didn't even want to leave the house at all! Its taken me a bit to get comfortable but now that I am I feel so much better. People still stare, not much I can do about that. The people on this site have definitely pushed me to be more confident. I feel better about myself more now then I did when I had hair! You just have to not give a crap what other people think.

I find that using a shampoo or soap (at this point who needs "real" shampoo unless they want it?!) that does NOT dry my skin out is a helpful place to start.

To avoid the shiny, I use a lotion (think Gold Bond or something like it) or an anti chafing gel with dimethicone as one of the top ingredients. That helps. Also, I like to carry a handkerchief in my purse to give my noggin a wipe down before getting out of the car when I go anywhere that I don't want my head to be shining so much.

I may try the jojoba oil myself!

I know a lot of guys use the ever-popular apricot scrub and like it. There are knockoff versions for cheap too. Please note that walnut shells are used in most of these products to give the necessary grit...so if you have nut allergies, it's good to know that.

I personally take a dry sponge which is kinda rough and I rub it on my wet head after a shower to exfoliate nicely. Then, if I want to, I'll put some lotion or the dimethicone gel up there. By the way, that anti chafing gel (which I never seem to use for its intended purpose; go figure!) also works well as a makeup primer. It's like a 3-in-1 use product!
