Hey everyone. Me again asking for help and advice!

I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermatitis yesterday. I have severe itching and sometimes pain in my scalp along with lots of dandruff like stuff. They gave me a prescription for 2% Ketoconazole shampoo. I haven't tried it yet. I'm a little nervous. Has anyone else suffered from this? Is it curable? It is driving me insane! Thanks in advance!

Hi Julie,

There was a small study that using Lactobacillus Paracasei as a probiotic reduced the melassezzia yeast count effectively reducing dandruff in a couple of months. You can find LP in Nestle's Nido +1 as Lactobacillus Protectus.

The other thing you can try (but with a Warning. The diet is difficult and you'll need to prepare your food in advance if you want your full complement of proteins) is a restricted vegan diet, restricting grains completely for a couple of months. I went through this diet when I was younger and experimenting with different diets. To be honest, I just stumbled upon this diet as I was trying to increase my performance on the mile by reducing my weight further. Within a couple of months I noticed my severe dandruff and my acne stopped. I went back on grains later and did get some flare ups but never to the degree before I went on the diet.

I had the same and was given 2% nizoral and told to use it daily for a month. By the 3rd use my hair was fried and falling out. So bad that I ended up shaving it within a couple of weeks. It also stripped the color from my hair completely. Not just dyed hair but it stripped out my natural color as well. I'm not saying you will have the same problems, but given my experience I would suggest trying a regular dandruff shampoo first.
Julie, if you're still interested in trying the Lactobacillus Paracasei, Inneove makes an anti-dandruff oral supplement with L.P. Amazon sells their products but not the anti-dandruff supplement, you'll have to look on eBay.

The other thing you could try is Nestl'es product for children, the Nido +1. That mix will have the Prebio which is the Lactobacillus Paracasei. Right now, Nestle is offering a free sample.
