I wondered what shampoo every one was using when alopecia set in. I know it is not caused by anything exterior, but I am just curious. It would be cool to see the answers.
Please just type the brand if you have a minute thx

I used two: Biolage hydrating shampoo and conditioning balm and Pureology hydrate shampoo and conditioner. I still use the Biolage on my human hair wig.
Hi Stephanie, when I went to buy my shampoo/conditioner I saw Puerology but went with Redkin. So far so good. But what does the balm do for the hair? Did you tell me where you got your human hair wig? I can't remember, I was in NY this weekend and saw some nice lace wigs w/human hair but they were cheap (pricewise) and I wasn't sure if they really was human hair. We still have a pending date - I have to look at my calendar and shoot you some dates.
Hi Pat, I have been cruising this site and just found your note! The balm is a conditioner (Biolage) and I had used it for many years. Now when I wash my wig I put some in water and rinse my wig with it after shampooing. I got my wig from iwig in Brooklyn. Amazing quality. If the wig you saw was inexpensive you can assume it is not good. How are thing, by the way? Stephanie
thx Stephanie Sounds like a great shampoo. I've never heard of it
Hi Amber!
I was using Nioxin products. As a matter of fact my hairdresser, who is my step-mom, wanted me to stop using it because she said it was making my hair thin. Neither of us knew about alopecia areata.
I never used Head & Shoulders and when I did i began to see spot. Although I know it wasn't the cause, I was curious. I now call it From your head to your shoulders. Just in joking of course :)
It was such a long time ago I cant remember. I have used Pantene, Johnsons Baby, the shop own brands, the best results for my hair was extra strength washing up liquid. I dont feel the later caused my total hair loss though as it was years before it all fell out.

Iv been doing a lot of research on hair forums, and some people do get a lot of shedding with certain shampoos and conditioners so its worth changing if yours reacts to one make.
It's been a long time ago and I was already losing my hair but after using Head and Shoulders the fallout accelerated dramatically.
It could have been part of the progression of AU but I don't believe so.
Hmm nteresting I thought the same thing..but like you said probably not
hello, I find pretty cool website. They test all the cosmetic product including hair products...
You can find there what is good and what is not so much...

I don't remember what I was using when my hair first started falling out. I was told to use Nioxin when my hair started to fall out and I swear it made it fall out faster.
When I had hair I also had dandruff. So, I used Pert-plus ( do they even make that anymore?), head and shoulders, and Pantene. Pantene was the last shampoo I used when the alopecia started. Now I use Biolage shampoo and conditioning balm just like Stephanie to wash the human hair on my vacuum wig. I've used it since 2002 and have not used anything else.
