I am looking for some opinions and insite...

A new Derm that I went to see this week at Hershey Medical center here in PA who is a Scalp and skin specialist has suggested I try squaric acid treatment.

Has anyone used this treatment and what is your opinion or outcome? I know everyone reacts differently but just trying to see if this is something I want to try.

Thanks

Yep, this is what I am talking about. Permanent hair loss can happen if there is a strong reaction or infection. Just because a doctor recommends something does not make it safe or effective.

Hi I had light treatment n my hair came back for a year due to my hormones my hair will never come back but puva treatment can work x

never heard of that please let me know if it works .. have you tried protopic ointment yet ?? im thinking of trying that ..im also getting injections working alittle so far but my spots keep expanding still and alot of the hair thats growing is coming in white ?

it worked like a charm for me. 3 months and hair in full back!

Hi Griambau,

Did you have any hair on your head when you used the squaric acid? What is the strength/protocol that you went on? I might pursue this route but would like to hear more about your experience with it. ANy side effects? Thanks for your help.

Jason

Hi Jason,

I did have like 30-40% of hair, in different and random areas. I used 2% twice for sensitization, which got REALLY itchy for around 36 hours. But that was all. then 14 days later I started with 0.001%. Then went up to 0.01% and that is the strength that I have needed. Once a week, one application full scalp and eyebrows. Some weeks two capes. So not a lot. Some redness, itchiness, etc. even some very light de-coloring in my right arm, but barely noticeable, and disappearing now. Totally worth for me. In the US it is costly, like US$100+ per bottle of SADBE, which may last quite long though (months). I live in Singapore, where it is free.

Also, I work with a doctor expert on natural treatments, and follow a very strict diet (vegetables, fish, no milk, no pasta, no bread,.. the usual stuff). This could have helped, too.
Hope this helps, happy to answer many more questions if needed.

Cheers,

Guillem

Very helpful. Thank you, Guillem. All of your hair and eyebrows grew back within 3 months? I am thinking about talking to the dermatologist about it but not sure how to approach it. I do follow a natural diet myself. Do you take any supplements or did you do anything else to assist with this process? Very happy for you, congrats.

Thanks Jason. Some additional supplements: Galium, Psorinoheel (drops) and Wobenzym and Boswelia (tablets). But I am not an extremist of supplements - have taken them but with discontinuities. I think what has helped me more is giving up sugar, eating more raw beets, less spirits, no beef, barely any pork, etc. But I am just guessing. The real help came from SADBE, for sure.

Other than that, I have been exercising a lot for the last year, I usually did 3-4 times a week, now I swim every day. Not sure it helps, but apparently the chlorine does not hurt either.

Good luck to you! and please keep in touch and let me know if you need more help. If you are in the Boston area I know of a dermatologist who can help you.

Cheers,

G

Thanks for your fast reply!! Yes, I currently live in Boston ironically. Can you please send me his or her contact information? Also, did all of your hair come back within the 3 months, even eyebrows? Very much appreciated, I will reach out to the derm after I receive their contact info from you.

Jason

He knows me well, tell him I am the guy from Barcelona, who was at BU and now moved to work to Singapore. He's a funny guy, and had no issues prescribing the SADBE for me last time - prescription is a MUSt in the US. There's a pharmacy across the street that makes it (the pharmacy is moving to NH soon, but they may still be around for a few weeks. In any case, they will let you know how to get it)

All in 3 months, yes! Eyebrows came back with the help of cortisone injections, but I have not taken cortisone in 2 months, and they are still there, so I guess SADBE is the reason why.

All the best!

Guillem

Thank you so much!!!! I'll certainly keep you posted.

Hi Guillem,

How fast did you progress the treatment? Did you begin applying it to your full scalp right after your were sensitized? did you apply it yourself? My doc wants to use it very slowly but I do not want to wait too late for results.. any help?
