Step mother of step daughter with Alopicia Areata

I am Jessica and I have a 10 year old step daughter Liz with Alopicia Areata.She has been getting teased and picked on lately and she is glad to have my husband Lewis whom is her bio father and I that do comfort her with our support.I have a son Alexander same age as my step daughter that understands very fully what she has and has been good to her.She was diagnosed with this when she was 7 years old,clumps of hair fell right out.Liz does wear a wig and has 3 of them.I am here to learn about this and knowing my husband and I are not alone having a child with AA.

You are not alone. My daughter was in highschool when this happened to her. She is thriving now in college. She will learn to deal with it and so will you. It does not have to stop her from having a normal life. Be her advocate and don't put up with the teasing, especially if it is happening at school

It has not stopped her from having a normal life and I have taught her to stick up for herself.It has been out of school too and been there for her including my husband.I am glad my son is learning about what she has very well.My husband knows her very well since he is her bio father,she is very strong and does not put up with anything.
