Maybe this is a silly question, but...all of you who daily wear a wig that is synthetic...do you use hair spray to keep it from blowing all over the place? Like today, it is soooo windy...If I wore a wig outdoors today, it would be all over the place and a mess in a minute...you would probably see the wefts in the back, and all. How awful. Also, do you all wear them outdoors in the sun ...such as walking outdoors in the sun, I am afraid it is so hot sometimes my hair will melt ...)" or the color of the wig will change with the sun. Not to mention the fact that it would be sooo hot underneath. I know some of you also wear scarves...do you feel comfortable going outdoors in a scarf then putting on your wig, and going out again? I would wonder what my neighbors would think...duh !!! I get self conscious.

Thanks so much for the info...yes, others indeed are braver than us both. I always wondered about HH and if they were hotter than synthetic. I guess maybe all in the cap ...so I guess I let the wind blow and then have to re-arrange hair when I get to my destination...wigs are too expensive to ruin.
I have had all of these same thoughts! I've also wondered if the neighbors think that there is something wrong with me when I walk in and out of the house, in several different head covers during the day! I just had to decide that what I think is more important than what the neighbors think.

I haven't had much trouble with wind, but I have worn hair spray on my synthetic wigs and it doesn't seem to hurt anything. You might try to wear a pretty scarf over the wig on extremely windy days.

Wearing a wig in the sun during hot weather is pretty uncomfortable. I sometimes prefer to wear a hat or scarf outside on these days.

I don't know if you work or go to school, but I try to be more consistent with what I wear to work. I usually wear a fairly conservative wig style and try to stick with similar styles when I get a new wig. I don't worry too much about who knows I'm wearing a wig as long as I feel like I look good in it.

I try to have fun experimenting with different wigs and head coverings.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
Thanks so much, Liz.. Nice to know somebody else out there has the same thoughts I do....Like I go to the same stores in my area every week for groceries and the like...Wearing different wigs, or not wearing a wig, and just my regular old straggly sorry looking hair, or wearing a hat, I often wonder what people are thinking...but esp. my neighbors...like I don't feel I should have to explain things to everyone....I haven't worn a wig to work, I wear my own sorry looking hair...I just don't know what people will think, since it is a new job for me, now 4 months...I don't want them to talk behind my back, well, maybe anymore than they may already, thinking, poor woman, her hair is sooo thin...thinking I always looked like this...I don't know, it is just a challenge, as they say now....I feel better about myself in a wig, because I feel like I look pretty...I have HAIR!! People just don't understand!!! But also, it is FLorida....it is extremely hot here, but so is most of the country this summer....hard to wear a wig, and it would just get all sweaty.
I stopped using wig spray, because it would melt down into my eyes and blind me while driving, make my make-up run down my face, or stick on my glasses. Layered wigs styles and air conditioning instead of open windows solved the wind issue when driving.
Yes, it solved the issue while driving, but driving you have a choice, top up, top down, windows open, windows closed....I am talking about just plain getting out of the car and walking from point a to point b and it is a breezy, let alone windy, day!!! The wig is just all over the place!!! Then you get to your destination, and look like a fool! Not too mention, I keep wondering if the wefting is being blown so that it can be seen by anyone!!! What a fright. Same issue when I wear my straggly hair...it is sooooo light as a feather, it just blows everywhere, and I really don't want to "paste" it down with spray.... Hey, have you gotten any new wigs lately? I always look, keep looking for the perfect wig, I guess there really is no such thing. They are always perfect in a photo, or in a wig shop...then you get them home, and a disaster...to be added to my collection of unwearables in my closet.
