I am new to this group but already I take comfort in knowing I am not alone and that their are other people out there that know how I feel. I had my son 4 yrs ago and 3 months after having him I started losing hair drastically (it was everywhere!) than it started slowing down. The drs. say I have telogen effluvium and it would stop in 6 months...it never did. It slowed down and than every 6 months would speed up again, its been 4 yrs and Im so exhausted. Its always been a diffuse thinning with no complete bald spots but now Im running out of hair to spare. I had horse hair before this and now its so incredibly thin. Its a little scary to be told you have something that the dr. cant cure or even tell you whats gonna happen...its like living your life blindfolded because I never know whats gonna happen next...how do you prepare for what you dont know? Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know anybody where this type of hairloss finally went away? The drs. keep telling me it will but Im starting to not believe them anymore. Thankyou for any suggestions or advice.

I don't know about your type of hair lost, but I know that stress will play a huge part in any heath conditon. I have AA, it's been less then a yr, but I have been working on my stress level and I feel better. I have notice a change in my conditon. Today is my first day for removing glatin from my diet. Do some reading on this, and eating natural. We are what we eat. Sometimes we have to try another doctor. I went to three doctor's before they got it right. The 3rd doctor said "It's AA! I don't care what the other's had to say" and she was right! all the symptoms are there. Ok! the kiddle calling the pot black! That's me!, but sister please try to handle your stress level. I now take "gaba" it help support healthy neurochemical balance. Im now going to turn my life over to eating all natural products. This will be a fight, but I'm ready! Join me!
Hey Alice,

There is a group name telogen effluvim here at alopecia world, check it out, I'm sure you will meet some member who can anwer many questions. Good luck and remember;we are here for you.
I haven't had any biopsies done only because my dr assured me that I didn't need it and that in time the hairloss would stop. I also haven't taken any steroids. I've just been kinda letting it run its course, I did however take biotin when it first started and it made my hair grow much faster but it didn't stop the hair from falling out but the hair that wasn't falling out grew like crazy. I am starting to look for a wig now I just keep putting it off because I get so overwhelmed when I see all the different kinds of wigs. Not sure where to even start. I guess I always thought that this will pass but im starting to see now that its not gonna just go away. My whole life has changed because of this hairloss. I used to be such a silly and happy person and now I'm always angry or sad or just feeling sorry for myself. I don't think anyone should have to suffer with this disease. I guess drs feel its not a life threatening disease so its not a major deal but it is life threatening to me. It has been killing me everyday from the inside out and I don't think I will ever have my normal life back again.
