Diagnosed with AA back in August, bought wig in Dec., currently still losing bodily hair. TMI!  I'm pretty obsessed with this disease so I'm constantly looking for help.  I just bought this book, The Paleo Approach, by Sarah Ballantyne, PhD.  Let me tell you it's intense reading.  Very scientific!  The Paleo Approach does make sense to me however it's going to be extremely difficult and labor intensive.  I have to give up my favorite foods and wine! ugh!  But I'm ready to try anything.  My question is...has anyone out there tried this approach and if so please share your experience.  Any pointers too.  Thank you so much!

U will feel overall better, less bloated and weight loss. I love it. But diet change usually won't bring hair growth. It's like all people who went gluten free. They didn't reverse alopecia with the change of diet unfortunately. But it is good for health. I do it because I think inflammation is source of a lot of diseases.

Thank you!  I too think it's worth the effort to reduce inflammation especially since I suffer with arthritis also.  I guess the hair regrowth will either happen or it won't.  I need to keep calm and get on with my life! :)

i'm a strong believer of the diet-disease connection. I have tried most of the popular 'health' diets including the Paleo diet. For me it made things worse. The style of eating that i have greatly benefited from is a whole-foods plant-based diet. Mostly vegan. A little bit of fish is ok.

I have been AU for almost 10 years. I implemented the whole-foods plant-based approach 2 years ago. Although not a cure, it has helped me grow vellus hair all over my scalp.

If you're interested check out some of the following awesome books that changed my life:
1) China Study by Campbell
2) Starch Solution by McDougall
3) Eating to reverse heart disease by Caldwell Esselstyn

Out of the above Dr. McDOugall (starch solution) has cured many autoimmune patients including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

Best regards

W

Thanks for your reply.  I will check into your suggestions.

No problem. Be sure to read Starch Solution by Dr. McDougall. I'm confident at the very least it will solve your arthritis issues. Best of luck.
