I am a 22 year old male with very aggressive male pattern baldness. I actually envy all you people with alopecia universalis. The scalp is the only place I want hair...and I dont want hair anywhere else. At least none of you have to deal with body hair...think of it that way. Instead I get the worse deal...hair loss in the scalp and too much body hair.

My hair is rapidly falling out and I am wondering if i should just shave it all off and just go with wigs. Been on minoxidil and finasteride for a year but my hairloss seems unphased by it.

Just shaving my head and not wearing wigs is not an option as I have a hideous face and i need hair to distract from it.

Hi JJ,
Yes some men would rather just shave their heads but some would still like to be covered up... I have found a company that make some nice morden mens wigs... Here is the link for the company but unsure if you could contact them... Or even do a search on the wig name to obtain one... Please let me know how you get off.. Julie.

hey JJ,
i would just like to tell you, no one is 'hideous'. so if you view yourself that way, it'll be a lot harder to deal with the alopecia. you need to help yourself to gain strength, a good way to do that is to go to support groups in which you see others who has AU. it helped me a lot.

i am 17 years old, a senior in HS, and totally bald with AU, i shaved off the rest, i think it makes life a lot easier, however i do now shave my head twice a week in the shower. to be a girl in high school is trouble enough, now add being bald makes it so much worse. i have 1 wig, and every once and a while i wear my wig, i walk bald most often, i dont want to hide who i am.

however it takes alot to get to the same level of acceptance that i am, but dont view yourself as if your different, or ugly.

hair is just an accessory.
