Tips on wigs for rookiez! 1st time users
What are some inexpensive yet natural looking wigs for someone like myself looking to purchase a wig! Keep in mind this well be my first time wearing one. And when should u purchase one!

You can wear a wig at any stage of your hair loss. It's all up to you. If this is your first wearing a wig, I would recommend a high quality heat-resistant synthetic lace front wig. That way you can achieve the seamless hairline look so no one knows you're wearing wig.

Purchase one whenever you are ready. Like Nicole mentioned, you can wear a wig at any stage, and over your bio hair. I wore a wig with a mesh cap over my bio hair for a good amount of time. I would suggest that you join www.wigsupport.com. It is a great place to learn about wigs. I wear synthetic wigs, and the majority of people have NO idea. I would say that it depends. The longer the wig, the easier it might be to put it up. I had the "Laine", and I could put it in a low ponytail. With some you could put it up with a clip.

Make sure you purchase 2 or 3 of a style that you like, so they can be "in rotation." Wearing just one -- it will wear out in no time!

It depends on the quality of the wig.........I have seven of the same style that I wear "in rotation".....and they are lasting me for about two years now, which is great. The average for a synthetic wig worn every day is about 3-6 months. That's not a long time.....

Hair extensions are VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE.......and they really don't last that much longer. And if it's low grade human hair (which is what you will find at Sally's), they will tangle and look horrible after awhile. Human hair wigs are great if they are high grade, but you have to care for them just like you would your natural hair. And they are expensive -- and you would still need more than one.
High quality synthetic wigs are much easier to maintain, and less costly than human hair. I would suggest you check out the conversations on this site about human vs. synthetic. I've found them helpful, and I have had alopecia areata for 20+ years.

I agree with Cindie... with human hair wigs, you have to care for them like your own hair. That is the nice thing about synthetics. It will keep the same style, even in humidity. I don't need a blow dryer or curling iron anymore! I think some people love human hair and others love synthetic. She is correct about high quality synthetic wigs. They cost less than human hair, and human hair will wear out as well.

Also...misuse or misapplication of hair extensions can severely damage, and even pull out, your own hair.

I purchased a Jackson wig a few months ago and I paid about $100 for it at my local wig shop. I love the look & I get lots & lots of compliments on it & a lot of people that I know don't even know it's a wig!! The downside to it is, it tangles a lot & has gotten really frizzy on the ends. It's a "Human like" wig which means I can wash it with regular shampoo/conditioner, flat iron, curl it. Next time I plan to get a "REAL" human hair wig which is what I would recommend to anyone else. I had to get what I could afford at the time. Human hair wigs are expensive!!

hi DeZ i felt so much beter once i got a real human hair wig cos its like having hair again i can look after it n treat it just like my own it even has bad hair days n tends to look good just when i decide it may need cutting (just like real hair does ) haha....the important thing is to buy REMI human hair or it will tangle like mad and be awful i found this out after buying an expensive wig off a good company if it dont say remi human hair i wouldnt buy it anyway i payed the same money £340 gem collection from tendco which are great thats prob about half in dollars im not sure , my REMI human hair and they last about 6mths to a year then they a bit too scruffy becouse for that price you get procesed hair (mine are blond im wearing one in my pic! so that goes drier, it certainly doesnt help!, im going for brunette next to hope it lasts longer!!)im sure if you get one that is made of virgin or europeon hair that costs around double it would last beter and not be as dry quickly. i get hand tied as its beter on my bare head , lace front and it can be glued on or taped or just without if it fits and u use tape (I use tape) it wont move even when it is pulled and i wear mine in a low bun or ponytail on the side or back people never guess its a wig good luck with wat ever you choose :) x
a good tip is to spray it with leave in conditioner every morning before i put it on + use ARGAN oil products!!!!
i have used capital letters to highlight the two most important things i have spent a lot of money until i found out! :z
