I have a request for every Dr.King patient: could you inquire about topical ruxolitinib (so not topical tofacitinib/xeljanz) at your next consult? He had some great success with it (end of 2015) but everybody seems to get the topical xeljanz instead.

Topical Ruxolitnib has better response as it is a Jak1/2 inhibitor. It has better response on alopecia and/or vitiligo patients even in the pill form. The problem is the cost which is about 3X as compared to Xeljanz. My guess is that Dr. King will recommend this only if you can afford it, Hope this helps.
Thanks for asking this question. My daughter is in a spontaneous regrowth phase but has some persistent bald spots so we are anxious for the creams to be tested and get on the market.
That's great information Xeljanzmiracle. I just called and confirmed. According to the person I spoke with, that 30g tube usually lasts about a month if its being applied only to the eyebrows, and maybe 2 weeks if its being applied to the scalp.
Now for the important part, does it work? I was given the email of one of their pharmacists that does a lot of their alopecia work so will check with him. If people have been seeing the same success that Dr. King's patient did (the article that was published in December), then this may be a better solution than oral X in terms of cost and potential side effects.
Unfortunately but understandably the pharmacist isn't able to give advice as to the effectiveness of the medication and he recommended I speak with my doctor...which brings us back to the reason this thread was created. Dr. King probably has more information than anyone else on this, so will people that are scheduled to see him please ask about what he's seeing with topical ruxolitinib. His next available appointment is in June/July.
Hi,
I would like to make an appointment with Dr. King, but live in another state. Could you please advise how to make such an appointment? Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you so much for your info. You seem very knowledgeable with this medicine.
My 16 years old son has Alopecia Totalis. We have done PRP treatments along with cortisone shots on eyebrows, and I see his eyebrow is coming back, but no scalp hairs. So I am not sure what worked..
His doctor suggested to use Topical Ruxolitinib. Do you know what is the difference between TR and topical Xeljanz? I know TX is much cheaper, would it work the same way? and what kind of dosage do I need to ask for?
Thank you in advance.
