Hello all first off let me say I have been battling alopecia totalis for 3 years. I've had alopecia for 5 years in total. I came across a post that someone put up about making a tumeric paste. On top of that I did some more research and came across a recipe to make a Tumeric Smoothie. Well, I have hair growing back fully in places where I cannot say but I'm sure you get it lol. My eyebrows and eyelashes are growing back. I now even see peach fuzz and spots that looks like when a man shaves and his hair is growing back on my head. My head was the first place I started to lose my hair so to even see something I'm happy. I drink this smoothie every day faithfully and I must say it tastes great in my opinion. As for the Tumeric paste, I do not like the taste. I normally take a half of tablespoon every other day and wash it down with water immediately. I have stopped all treatment from the dermatologist because reading about the meds I was taking such as proscar, prednisone and nexium I found out I was hurting my body. I hope this reaches everyone well and good luck. Remember alopecia doesn't define who we are and it took some time for me to realize that so embrace it my alopecia family....Talk to you soon!!!!!

Great news! How long was you taking the smoothie before you saw result? And what's the recipe?
I've been using it for almost two months. I started seeing results in a month.
1 cup of coconut milk
1 banana
1 cup of mango chopped or buy the frozen ones
1 tablespoon of tumeric
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of fresh ginger
1 tablespoon of flax seeds or Chia seeds

Blend in a blender and it's all set. Plus delicious.....

Where do you get tumeric paste?

That's great! I've been seeing positive results on my AA after taking quercetin and turmeric supplements. It is a challenge to know if the supplement of turmeric/diet is what is affecting change, or if the condition is abating on its own (without a scientific, double-blind study). And everyone reacts differently to medications, too. But, it's so encouraging to hear these stories!

This is great. I also drink more water now and gave up soda completely. I made the smoothie a part of my daily diet and not only do I see results I feel better overall.

I've been adding 1/4 tsp of tumeric into my salad with olive oil, I guess I'll increase the amount to 1/2 tbsp.

Do you just eat the tumeric by itself and then gulp down a lot of water? Did you change anything else in your diet (such as cutting out gluten)?

This is the recipe I use for the paste. I actually got it from one of our alopecia members from this site. I do not drink soda anymore and I drink a lot of water. I gulp it down with plenty of water because it doesn't taste too good.

Thank you for sharing, Shanique! :) I'll give it a try.

Anytime :)

Anyone have any hair growth by just taking turmeric or curcumin supplements ??? They are both suppose to suppress inflammation.

I would be interested in taking the supplements as they are more convenient.
