Hi!
OK I have had alopecia since I was 15, I have always worn synthetic mono top wigs. I am ready for a better one. I want to swim and not worry about it. I want to have fun and not worry about it. I am sick of saying "I can't do that" when my son asks me to go down the water slides.
So please give me your advice on Vacuum wigs! Which ones do you have? Which are good? What were the costs around?
I have only really looked into the Freedom wig, and I love it, but I don't know if I can afford it. Are there any sort of payment plans??

Thank you!

-Erin

Thanks for the tip! I will check it out right away!

Hi Aimee

I would like to see you scarfabulous pics

Hi

I'm happy to help you with any information I can. My daughter has worn the Freedom Vacuum wig since she was 12, she is now 21 years old. I also help people in New Zealand with this type of wig, I understand these wigs and will pass on as much information as possible.

Freedom Vacuum wigs are fantastic, they work very well for most who wear them. They have many features and benefits that aren't comparable to any other wig
.
They give security (yes you can swim in them - even though I would consider surfing and water skiing high risk activities - many of our clients still do these things with no problems).

They look realistic (not just to you) but to those looking at you. I am a wig watcher rather than wearer and the thing that put my heart in my throat when my daughter first got her freedom hair was that it moved and looked like everyone else's growing hair.

The hair is 100% unprocessed virgin human hair. That means the hair is sourced from the general population of the world with as much variance and limitation as that brings - in short the hair is beautiful, strong and healthy.

They are comfortable and easy to look after. No special anything to look after the hair or the cap. Just a good quality shampoo and conditioner. To clean the inside of the cap (which has to be cleaned daily), you just need a little detergent or wet wipes. Very hygienic and easy care.

The cap is made with 100% medical grade silicone that has the ability to pass water vapour through it (breathable). During everyday activity there is no build up of perspiration as this is able to pass through the cap. The cap keeps your head at your temperature. You can wear them to work out in, do yoga etc. If you want to know about physical activity and Freedom Wigs contact Karen Peterik as she has exercised in her Freedom Wigs for years.

They are a very accurate piece of equipment. If you are in the USA most of the Independent Agents there use Medical Scanners to get the most accurate fit possible. The IA's do there very best to meet your needs within the parameters of what this wig can and can't do. It's about making sure you understand all you need to understand before you move forward.

Pricing is individual to each IA. So, you will need to ring the one closest to you to find out their pricing etc.

Payment Plans - I don't believe any of the USA IA's have payment plans.(Would a personal loan be appropriate to help you pay it off?) In New Zealand we do have the ability to help people with payment plans, but Freedom New Zealand only work with those people who are resident in New Zealand.

If I can help by answering any other questions please feel free to pop into my page.

Thank you sooo much for all of the info! That is very helpful really. They do sound fabulous and yes I have thought about a loan for it honestly. I am just so sick of not being able to do things because of my hair. (yes I do go bald here and there but I am finding it harder as my son gets older and we are from a tiny town and I don't want his friends to bug him at the pool).
Anyway thanks so much!

Thank you for posting this info. It is very helpful.

I recently decided to purchase a freedom vacuum hair piece. I met with an independent representative who could not have been nicer. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I'm waiting for the cap to arrive to ensure it fits accurately, and then the final process will be begin. I realize this is an expensive investment but I believe this purchase will be worth it in the long run.

I can highly recommend https://dresslily.com particularly if you've got mid to long hair. The wigs are made with real hair and they are very realistic.

Hi Erin, I also have a scarfabulous like Aimee. I wear it boating and even wakeboard with it on with no problems.

Aimee, I had mine cut too and the ends look so straight and the hair is so thick, so to give it a softer look i took a curling iron to it and it looks great now.

OK thank you, that is awesome to know. I am going to check into it as well. :)

Hi Erin

I have had alopecia for considerably less time than you but made the decision for more or less the same reasons as you to have a Vacuum wig. I am expecting my wig to arrive at the end of August and can't wait. The sample hair I received was beautiful and an exact match to my own. I haven't found it difficult shaving off my remaining hair. It has been quite liberating and certainly more comfortable. I can update when it arrives if you like?

Yes please do update me!

I looked into Freedom wigs but even with the subsidy here in NZ it is too expensive for me. I would dearly love one but there's no way I can afford it. Also I want to keep what hair I do have and try to grow in my patches. I have just ordered my first Kanekalon synthetic wig. I am apprehensive but excited. I usually just wear a hat and clip in hair pieces to hide my loss. It will be nice to be able to go out without wearing a hat I think.
