It is approaching the time when I probably will have to wear a wig all day, every day. It is soooo hot and humid here in FL. Does anyone live in a very hot humid climate and have to wear a wig every day? Is there any such thing as a somewhat cooler wig? I am searching again for a wig that is ME. All the ones in boxes in my closet, well, they may have looked nice when I bought them, or I thought they did, but now, I don't even know who I am supposed to look like. I just wish I could look like my old self again, and have my hair back, even though it was never "good" hair anyway. It was hair, and it was mine!! Blonde colors for wigs are practically non-existent. They all are the wrong color. Ashey, drab, grey looking blondes. Yuck. They are all parted on the wrong side for me. They all have tooo much hair for my small face and features. What to do? I have limited amount of money to spend. I am so afraid to try another online purchase, and get stuck with something I cannot return, and don't wish to wear. Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated. Oh, and there is the how to tell my co-workers, "hey, tomorrow I will be coming to work wearing a wig" and the looks, side-eye glances, whispers behind my back.

What you need are "whisperlite" fiber wigs that are somewhat cooler....and many styles come in a "petite" size.
You also need someone who can "custom cut" them to fit your facial features.
As for telling your coworkers -- that is tough. Maybe you shouldn't, unless they ask, and then explain what AA is. Women are mean and catty -- you will have nasty things said behind your back, if not to your face. You will have to grow a "tough skin".
This advice is coming from someone who is almost 59 years old, and who has worn wigs and dealt with catty coworkers since age 35.
Cindy, you understand then. I am going to be 62, and have been working there for just over a year. Catty? Oh, those are the ones I dread. And they are everywhere. Caucasian women have it rough here Yes, women can be mean, I guess people in general can be mean, when it is not THEM and they CANNOT comprehend what it is like. Could be worse. I could have to put my leg on every morning to get out of bed, or put a patch on my eye because it is missing, and so on. Again, caucasian women have a time go of it. If I were a black woman, they wouldn't "blink" - why is that? Their culture is so excepting of wearing wigs. It is like it IS part of their culture.
Whatever your race, this needing to wear a wig is at first so frightening and agonizing. First, remember that what you are feeling is valid. To compare this condition with those that are worse or life-threatening is a natural thing to do, but please never fall into the trap of negating your feelings. Next, however, do be proactive about your decisions. Do you wear a hat? Hats are so cute and in right now, so do so with confidence. Will you wear a wig? Hold that adorable head up high and if possible, use humor to deflect any "cattiness" you encounter. Some of that attitude comes from others' insecurities---oh no! how would I handle this?---or---I am so glad SHE has this, not me. And you may be surprised at the support you receive. And last, try to develop an "It is what it is" attitude, if only while dealing with others. So,Lexi, be assured you are beautiful, important and lovable. And I know humor is my best tactic...I feel better, others become more relaxed and the daily challenges seem a bit smaller. Oh, and have a little (or big) weepy session now and then. Bessings. You are not alone.
I do understand Lexi.....You are "halfway" correct when you say that African-American female culture is more accepting of wig wearers. It's ironic, but if an African-American woman wears a wig because she "wants to", instead of because she "needs to", she is not judged nearly as harshly as a woman who suffers from Alopecia. We are generally thought of as "too lazy" to have taken care of our hair, and alopecia is our "reward" for slovenliness.
And I can only imagine that if it is rough for African-American women, what it must be like for Caucasian women -- a dear former coworker and friend who is Irish-American, and who possessed (at that time) a head full of beautiful, thick, dark curly hair (I would have loved to have her hair), told me that as far as Caucasian hair went, she was "at the bottom of the pecking order" because her hair wasn't "long, flowing, straight, and blonde."
God help us as human beings. I'm praying for you.
Mine wig is around 2 year old and it still looks awesome. i bought from https://shop.wigsbuy.com/
Pat, the blonde colors are always ugly. Nothing like REAL blonde hair. I would feel so much better if I could get a custom wig with my own density, but cannot afford to do it. Can someone really thin them out to look a little bit better? What is your custom wig? Yes, trial and error. It takes money. I have many trial and errors in my closet - never worn. So sad. Money wasted.
Hi Lexi
The thing with wig buying is you have to make some choices and even worse (in some situations) live with the outcome. As you have said above you have a few of those in your closet already.
Write a list of your personal needs - you want something customised, you want something in a natural blonde (which may mean spending more for 100% unprocessed virgin human hair), you want something that looks like you, you want something that is cost effective ... you know what your needs are.
With wig wearing and I mean any type of wig, you will find all of them hotter than no hair or your own biological hair. Over the years I have heard many people saying this wig is hot or that wig is cool, often with very contradictory comments. The compromise of wearing a wig, hat or scarf is that you have a covering over your head, that covering - no matter what will make you warmer than your own biological hair.
In my experience with my daughter in particular - she finds her Freedom Wig exceptionally comfortable as well as meeting all her other needs.
Do as much investigating as you can and then work out your own needs. Good luck with everything.

U r very pretty. I love the wig color in picture 4. It seems to be a good blonde shade. I don't see many Louis Ferre wigs on the websites. What color is that one? I will have to hunt some more. I will check out that scarfabulous. Thanks so much !!!!
Yes, the lightest blonde. I know the color Vanilla Lush in Noriko. I guess maybe it is the same....most wigs I have are Creamy Blonde. But I would like more yellow in them. I will check out the website link. Thank you so very much.
Oh, yeah, meant to tell you, the Scarfabulous - made in Tampa FL....Where I live. Cute but expensive for what they are. Someday maybe I will stop in there.
No worries about writing a novel LOL !! I appreciate the thoughts and points of view. Yes, having a small head and small features, most wigs look like way way way too much hair. I think if they thinned them out too much, you would see the wefting. Not a good look. I also hate wearing hats. I was never a hat person, not ever. But now, I almost always am. You adjust. I maybe just think people are staring when I wear a wig. My own insecurities. I KNOW I am wearing a wig, so I think they all know as well. The other big issue is they are all parted on the wrong side for me. Try as I might, I never seem to be able to part them on the right side for me. If I took them somewhere to have them done professionally, it would be good. But any decent wig shop is about 40 miles from my home. The time, the gas, and the effort....Then to pay someone to fix my wigs...this all gets really expensive, and the end result, not even to know if I will really wear it.
