So it's Christmas and the usual get togethers are happening, and I know this year
I'm looking a bit different. Bunch of lads being laddish, but I got ridiculed for most of the evening.
I know it's just boys being boys, but I'm just not that strong right now.

Man people are just intrusive and insensitive :(

Anyway, like it or not, I'm out of the alopecian closet...inevitable? Well yes, just was not expecting the levels of interest and intrusion,

To be fair though, it's a curious thing this losing your hair, so perhaps I am unfair on the guys.

Thanks Paul, I feel better today after a good nights sleep.

Christmas Drinks + Keyboard = Strange postings :)

I sent the guys an email just clarifying what AA/TE is, hopefully that will be an end to the questions!

Well said Tanya.
I know there was no malice in their comments - just blokeish joking about.

Wow guys can be ridiculously mean to each other and it gets worse with alcohol. My daughter is a freshmen at college and hangs out with frat boys. One of my friends sons is going next year and will be joining a frat. He is bipolar and had an episode that everyone heard about. My daughter said "I hope he doesn't join this frat because they pick on people, they even picked on one of her friends because his dad died last year." You might need to find nicer friends. I am sorry that you went through this.
Go watch the movie Roxanne with Steve Martin. It teaches one how to come prepared to a party with comebacks for a physical challenge.
Lol - a classic movie....must watch it again :)

My parents are Irish and I have an Irish passport; even though i'm born in England and speak with an English accent. For the past 30 years i have spent taking the "mickey" and receiving it. Nights just would not be the same. 99% is never above the 'nasty' level and the other 1% is catered for by an apology. I use to call myself a Crash test dummy (AU) who wastesting drinks as a sideline. the first time you grow up with Alopecia is when you laugh at yourself; for there is nothing you can do about Alopecia in a pub' apart from wear a toupee and for most blokes (friends) in a group, that would be 'easy meat' and for me rightly so. Blokes don't suit toupees. Bloody obvious, even to men!

When i first shaved my head a few years back I was of course apprehensive going down the pub but sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do to feel better. I got used to it and i very rarely ever pick up a comment about my smooth head; for there are far better things to take the "mick" out of. When i go to Ireland (often), i have seen a fair few with the 'map of the world'. They are going about their business. You do likewise.

Hi Greg,

I think you have realize that you are who you are regardless of whats happinning with your hairloss.  As soon as you accept yourself the. way you are you will gain your inner strength to be who you are. You will always have your off days but sometimesthats when others will step in and make positive comments to boost your spirits.  Ya have to just play the hand you got and realize things could be much worse than they are. Have a great Holiday and new year and be confident in yourself.   Dennis
