Hi...I'm Bernie the newbie!34 yrs old.Married to my husband 12 yrs.2 kids.have had AA since I was 17.Same story as most..Comes and goes...mostly goes!Unless I'm pregnant(dont think having another baby to have hair for 9 mths is on the cards!!!)Anyway..all my hair went, even though I've never seen it on pillows etc..just went. All doctors and specialists told me that it was gone for good so I loaded up on wigs and put the good side out 'cause as all fellow sufferers know thats what we do best!Joked about the roots not having to be done etc etc. Then low and behold it started growing back whispy white(this was a first..it had always grown back black)Then my specialist said that the colour pigment was gone and wouldnt come back..happy bubble burst "AGAIN"!Then low and behold a little black arrived over the white.(My daughters 5+3 find this very amusing!)I now have lge black patch on the back of my head and whispy(Really fine)white pretty much everywhere else.Dont want to get my hopes up as my "BUBBLY" personality is really struggling to stay bubbly but can anyone relate to this or give me hope or not...Either way it would be nice to know. Thanks for your time.Cant believe it took me 17 yrs to find this site...........

"Will it ever come back?" I'm asking the same question Bernie. I haven't had alopecia as long as you have, only the past six years or so but I've been bald since April and lost all my body hair since mid summer. Then all of a sudden I have little white hairs growing here and there on my head, not all over though and nowhere else but my head so far. I try not to get my hopes up thinking that it's going to come back and try to be upbeat about it all, like it's just a sick joke. I get my eyebrows tattooed the end of the month, that will make me feel a little better about the way I look. The last time I had some patches grow back all but one patch came back with colour, that one patch kept growing but stayed pure white. I called it my Bonnie Rait look. I take care of the little bits of fuzz by dry shaving, until they are ready to commit and grow properly I getting rid of the little buggers! yup it's cah-ray-zee!!!
I know the feeling about getting your hopes up..I'd nearly prefer if it would just stop teasing me! I've never lost it any where else so that sort of gives you the extra hope but it just rears its ugly head when you least expect it.Its such a pity our society leads people to feel sorry for everyone with a bald head always thinking its the big "C" otherwise I would love to go commando..Did it on hols..well just a bandana on..looked quite young without my makeup so the looks were unbelievable.I could see their lips and it was oh isnt she so young...and her poor kids....I was having a ball!!!They probably thought it was my "LAST" holiday!Anyway Susan get those hopes up...cause at the end of the day its positive thoughts and that has to help...You get so use to crossing the bridges when u get to them so its nice to have small bursts of hope....Enjoy your weekend!
