Hello,
Thanks for allowing me to join the group. I have been diagnosed with AA for several years. It’s still an emotional journey for me. Some days are OK and some days I continue to be devastated.
I have tried many remedies with little to no success. My dermatologist recently prescribed me with Xeljanz (off label) to treat my AA based on studies we have seen. Aetna has refused to approve Xeljanz for AA as it’s off label. I’ve appealed and even had a peer to peer with their appeal committee but no luck. I can’t afford the monthly cost of the medication in the US. I don't meet requirements for free product from the manufacturer. Has anyone been able to successfully purchase Xeljanz in Canada or Mexico or anywhere in the work at a significantly lower cost? Thanks for your help. I’m desperate to try this medication. Please advise where you have had success purchasing at a low cost. Thank you

After many other treatment attempts, we tried Xeljanz too for 3 months.  No change!  Very disappointing!

Some suggestions for you:

We were denied coverage by our insurance company, then my nurse friend suggested to call the Pharmaceutical Co.(I think it might be Pfizer?), because they can offer a co pay card or even for free!  Tell them your story and ask them for help.  They did it for us, just unfortunate it was for no results!   Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your reply. I did reach out to Pfizer and my income did not quality for the free program. Even though I did not qualify - I cant afford the drug. I am sorry it did not work for you.

Nnea, I would suggest reading through this thread https://www.alopeciaworld.com/forum/topics/xeljanz-from-india

A lot of us get generic xeljanz from Beacon in Bangladesh. Just understand that there are risks associated with taking off label meds

Thanks very much

@Nnea I able to manage tofacitinib  from Bangladesh.
