I had aa when I was 13 then life was hell during my teenage years with the usual comments etc. I had to have a hysterectomy when I was 30 and it developed into AU and I am nearly 42 with no sign of it coming back. I've had just about every treatment going here in Scotland and nothing has worked but hey ho such is life.

Almost 150 people in here now, WOW! Even after 30 years of living with alopecia there is still so much to learn everyday. I've been meeting with so many alopecians over the last year and hope to meet with so much more this year and even though there are so many of us in here that have grown up with alopecia, it still happened at different ages, different stages and was dealt with in so many different ways. The one common thing I have found with alopecia though is that when people accept that they are beautiful without their hair, they can go on living a better life. I'm happy you're all here!

this is cool! I have never done this before & I am so happy to find people out there who are like me. I got Alopecia at the age of 16 (High School) & that sucked! I went for treatments (shots) OUCH! & then my hair came for awhile until I was 33 I lost it all, except for my eye lashes.
I am now 37 & it has got alot easier - I guess its not all that bad.
I do like the fact that I dont have to shave anymore too! Smooth like a baby's ass!
The toughest for me is where do you find good wigs? My insurance doesnt cover this at all?

Whoever in the world thought shaving 2 huge party parts (legs) every day was a good idea? Ugh! Smooth rules!

I had AA since about 6 or 7 years old and have had it all my life. There were a few consecutive years in a row in my teens and early twenties that I was fine, thank God, but thats about it. I just turned 40 and about 4 months ago it turned into AT then AU. I like being smooth and having no body hair, I just would like my lashes and full brows back...but oh well.
