UGHHHHHH. Hair shopping. Human Hair Wigs... What's your favorite brand style and why? I've always had Jon Renau Darla or Hannah, but I fell like I need a change.

What's your budget? I know someone who does fabulous custom European hair wigs, satisfaction guaranteed, for a lot less money than you will find elsewhere. She is here in Portland, but does work with women all over the world. Brenda Kay Hair Specialites, at 503-223-8092, or email bkswildhair@comcast.net.

Amy how long do your human hair wigs last? I've had universalis now for 2 years... have been using different mono lace front wigs - but live in Florida like you and I sweat bullets in them... I have looked at both of those wigs but did not go long - thanks... and good luck too I would like give love to be able to just pull my hair back in a pony tail ... shake my head up side down!!!
My human hair European wigs last for years. I've had one for 8 years that looks brand new. The hair, the cap, everything. It's well worth the investment.

Your info about Brenda Kay is very interesting. But when I check her web site I don't see any info about the types of human hair in the wigs she sells or what company makes them. Since so many hh wigs now are made with Chinese hair that has been processed (Jon Renau,Gemtress ) I was wondering how you know that these are made with European hair? I know that Gemtress makes one European hair wig. Also, there is no info about types of caps-do you have wigs with a regular cap or is a lace front area an option. Thanks for any info?

I have AT, and I need to find a wig that will last, without "Breaking the Bank." I have found many websites and talked to many people and I'm not sure what is the best route to take in regards to investing in a wig.

Has anyway ever tried Peggy Knight? or is the price not worth it and your better off just buying a $300 wig and changing it every year?

My brother is getting married June 30th and the Bridal shower is April 14th. so Im trying really hard to find something that works in the next few weeks......because I dont want to keep spending money on wigs that I only feel comfortable wearing with a hat or are never securely kept on my head.

First, the security issue: You can use tape to keep your wig on pretty securely. There are different strengths of tape -- go to Hair Direct and they have many kinds. I have the red tape for every day (I like to be able to get my wig off comfortably at night), and for times that I need more security, get the blue tape.

Second, what wig to get? I have both the inexpensive and the expensive. I use the synthetic wigs for every day, when I am working out at the gym, painting (I'm an artist) and any time I will be getting dirty or wet (they are wash and wear). For dates and special occasions I choose to wear my custom European hair wigs. This is not to say the synthetic wigs don't look good -- they can be worn for nice occasions, too if they fit well and aren't too shiny. Got to www.wigsalon.com or another online wig place for nice discounts. My favorite brands are Rene of Paris and Noriko. They are well made and most of them look very natural.

thats great that you are able to wear to the beach! I have become the bandanna queen at the beach! your pics are beautiful though :-)
I'm not sure what kind of hair mine is... I go to a place once a year, in the Chicago suburbs. They specialize in wigs for people with alopecia. All I know is that they're all human hair wigs, and they cost $1500 for one. They're not lace front wigs, either... I'll have to ask for specifics when I next go in. I used to do synthetic wigs when I was first diagnosed, at 8, and after a few years we found the place I still go to. Since my parents can't help me pay for them anymore, it's been hard to buy them on my own, so for about 2 years I had to go back to synthetic wigs that I bought at a Halloween store for twenty bucks until I saved up enough to buy a real wig.
I buy from Paula Young, it's a cancer site, but they are really comfortable. I had a real hair wig, and it was terribly uncomfortable. I hate it. It's hot here, so I'm not sure what I'll do this summer, hoping to find something withthe same cut that can handle the heat. I have a feather-light wig from Paula Young, LeAnn...their about $40 and last a solid month. Women pay that for their hair all the time! I never did, so it's taking some getting used to. I get complimented all the time, women actually stop me and ask me what "color" I use, since it's great looking!! They're shocked to hear that it's a wig! I'm all about comfort! Good luck.

DON'T go to the stores! you can buy the exact same ones they stock in the stores for half as much online! i wear estetica's "angelina"....i can get online at wigsalon.com for about $600. I went to a store last week and asked how much they would charge me and they said $1065. For the EXACT SAME WIG!!!!! It's awful...I spent over a thousand for my first wig at a store and wound up hating it, but at the time, I didn't know about going online. It's still expensive, but no where near as much as in a store. Good luck to you!!!! :)

I have gotten most of my wigs on Ebay. It took awhile to know which NOT to buy and to figure out what style looked best judging from just pictures. All of the OOPS's I either resold or gave to Cancer Care Manitoba. In addition to all of the synthetic ones Ive bought there, I now have 4 100% human hair wigs. I love that I can add color to them! Out of the 4 only one does not work. Its very curly and turns into a frizzy mess.

I have 3 wigs that I bought at a local salon that were about 500.00 each. 2 of them I have worn alot, 1 was ruined by the salon when they were trimming it for me. Of course I got to pay 75.00 for that and no sympathy or money back over the bad job the girl did. These wigs dont look any better thann the 30.00 ones I buy on Ebay and quite frankly dont wear any better if not worse. 1 is practically ruined from wearing a cowboy hat for 7 hours, the next day I wore a cheap one and not a bit of wear at all.

I dont wear wigs daily, actually only for special occasions in the summer and when I go out shopping etc in the winter (added warmth). Because they are so inexpensive I can have as many wigs as I want and wear a different style every time I go out. Since getting the human hair ones tho, I do gravitate to those more often than not. They feel so nice and dont get near as hot.
Forgot to mention, the most expensive wig I have bought on Ebay was 80.00, that was for 100% human hair!!
