I am 26 years old and I have had AU since I was 2. I am now a mother of three and I am curious if they will have alopecia..does anyone know what the statistics are? Or does anyone else have kids with or wothout the same thing?

Hi Natasha,
My 7 year old son has a nice head of hair. I've been bald since age 7 (30 years). None of my ancestors are remembered for having it so I'm backing up Sandy's comment that it's unpredictable and random.
Nice to meet you!
Melinda
Thank youvery much for your reply
Hiya Natasha,
My daughter is 16 and i know she is pretty anxious about reaching 17. I lost most my hair rather suddenly at that age.
So far she has no signs. Quite surprising considering the dyes, straightening iron abuse and amount of products that live there. I am the only one in my family who appears to have Ali-p. It is so unpredictable so you just never know whats out there for us all.
I am 33 and mu uncle who is 71 now had au from 3-5 and his hair grew back and he still has some.I have had AU for 12 years and I have 3 kids 13/9 and 6 and they are all fine.My hair hasnt grown back and I have long accepted that it will not but I do hope it skips my kids.
My 15 year old biological daughter discovered a bald spot on her head recently and busted up with tears I would be lying if I would say I'm not suffering with feelings of guilt and worry, I thought by now my off springs would be fine. It brought back memories of my early childhood being teased relentlessly because of my hair-loss, thats when i vowed, not to have kids. But I'm just praying she dont have AA or my problem, AU. This is my nightmare.
I am more concerned about the other autoimmune aspects and if I passed on a tendency for all those...baldness is nothing compared to some of those. Does anyone have genetic tendencys for autoimmune diseases? and has Alopecia as a outward symptom? These are "my nightmare" questions...but in the same thought...I must refuse to worry! God has a plan (this is my montra) and he will bless us when we follow it, and we will all be made new someday, God's promises are amazing.
