So I thought I might add a discussion on some great christian books that you may have read that were either great reads, helped you through your alopecia, got you closer to God, or were just plain inspirational. I know that since I was diagnosed with my AA just over a month ago, I have gained healing from our Lord in ways I never could have expected. The bible has been a total crutch for me. But here were a couple of other books that I LOVED and just wanted to share.
"The Shack" by William P. Young - LOVED IT , LOVED IT!! Could not put it down. It is a quick read and really puts the trinity into a whole new personalized light...loved it!!

"A case for Faith" and "A Case for Christ" - really informative great history and perspective involved.

I'll think of more, but I would love to hear what books you have read. Please share.

Hey Jenn,

Great information -- but who is(are) the authors of the other two books?
Sorry about that. The authors of the "Case for Faith and Case for Christ" books is Lee Strobel.

Another fabulous book is "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. This is a daily 40day devotional book that teaches you to understand yourself and dedicate your life to Christ and God's plan for our life. Life changing!
My boyfriend just bought that book (purpose driven life) for me yesterday! He knew I had been having a hard couple of days, it was very nice of him. I'm glad you liked it, it seems amazing. I loved the Shack too.... especially because I am from Portland! I have also really liked Secrets of the Vine for Women by Darlene Wilkinson and Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Have you guys watched the Case for Christ movie?
Hi Jenn,
This is a great share! I have read the "case for Christ" and "A Case for Faith" I believe there was one more "Case" book by Lee Strobel, that I have, but not sure. A really good small book that I recently read is "Looking up, when life is looking down" by Beth Moore, it is a wonderful reaffirming study on how Christ sees us through the tough times, I bought it while going through some difficult personal issues unrelated to my AA, but what a help it is in all those circumstances where we are deep in the pit of depression or despair, it helped me see clearly how I was feeling and why, it really touched me and helped me see things from Gods prospective. I highly recommend it for anyone. I have the "Shack" but I just barely started it and set it aside, thanks for the shove to pick it up again.

I love "Captivating" by Stasi Eldredge (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and "Beauty by the Book" by Nancy Stafford. They were both such inspiring books! I'm sure I will think of more too! I am always reading something! :)
I LOVED "Captivating". It left me feeling all worm and fuzzy.
I loved The Shack. It was amazing!
Right now Im reading the "Left Behind" series. Im on book 6 of twelve. LOVE IT!!
I've read both "A Case for..." books. Great!

A lovely short one (you can probably read it in just a couple hours) is called "Secrets of the Vine" by Bruce Wilkinson, who wrote "The Prayer of Jabez." It discusses how God prunes us so we produce more abundantly, based on John 15 (I am the vine you are the branches, and abiding in Christ).

My primary Bible that I use is called The Promise Bible which has studies about many topics at the beginning, including Healing, Salvation, Forgiveness. I read a topic or two for a quick reminder of how precious God finds me :-)
Some good stuff on here...more books to read. Here are a couple other books I've liked
"What happens when women say Yes to God" by Lysa Terkeurst really good also makes for a good study and
"Becomming a woman of influence" sorry can't find it right now for the author. But the book is Very inspirational and motivating
I am reading If God is Good by Randy Alcorn. It's quite a long book but it has very short sections in it that can be read in one sitting. It covers so much about suffering and is well worth reading! Another good book is Elizabeth Elliot's A Path Through Suffering. When we go through very difficult situations it definitely can strengthen our faith if we allow it to.
