Hi all,
I'm new to AW and loving this site. My hair has been shedding for 2 years, I have thinness and soreness at the crown. I went to several dermatologists and had a biopsy done. I was finally diagnosed with CCCA about a year ago. I've applied many things to my scalp, Olux, Dermasmooth, Nixoin, Loprox and other topical steroids. But nothing has stopped or even slowed the shedding.
Right now, I'm taking Doxycline 50 mg twice a day and Clobestal 0.05% topical lotion to my scalp twice a day. It is the first time I'm taking oral medication for my hair loss. My scalp feels a little calmer but the shedding remains the same. I can't touch my hair without a lot of long strands coming out. Trying to remain positive and trusting in God. Have any of you had any success with stopping or slowing the shedding?? Thanks in advance.

Hello Kaye,
Welcome to the site. I am pretty new here as well. I have a similar story to you. I was diagnosed with scarring alopecia about six months ago. So hard, trying to stay positive. I have so much shedding. I cringe and get anxious whenever I see stray loose hairs...they are everywhere! My mother in law passed away from cancer about five years ago and it breaks my heart to think that my shedding hair reminds my husband of her lost battle. I am using the same treatment as you. I also use a special shampoo to reduce swelling and rogaine. I respond very well to rogaine but I feel like those little hairs are a lost cause because they will fall one day too.
Stay positive! Stress can't help. My scalp has only felt sore since starting all the treatments. I never had the typical symptoms, did you?
I have been reading about diets lately. Have you read anything about anti inflammatory diets? They work for some. Are you having any side effects to the oral meds? Some days I feel like I loose SO much hair. How can I ever replace them? I get so sad and frustrated. Some days I think my hair still looks okay with major work and combovers.
