3 weeks in-this is what I noticed so far:
I lost 7lbs.
The first 4 days were just horrid! I felt terrible. After that, the cloud lifted and I felt great.
Much more energy. Better mood and feel happier. It's shocking how good I feel. I keep saying this to my hubby!
I had 3 criteria to meet while on the diet.
1. Slow/stop hair loss- I think it's too soon to tell. Hair seems stronger and less shed but I don't want to get my hopes up yet. It's not getting worse- so there's that! ;)
2. Stop itching on scalp/ body- Some improvement.
3. Improvement of red blotches on my face: YES! FFA had caused these weird blotches under my once fair and clear skin. Their outbreak coincided with my hair loss and pinpoint pains/itch on my head/body. Even with good foundation/powder they could be seen underneath. They have shrunk in size, location and faded in color. My make up does a good job now of making my skin look even and smooth again.
I'm going to stick with the diet for 3 months and then consider what food to add back in. I think I miss eggs the most right now. Next week it'll be something else!
Just curious what your outcome was on the AIP Diet...?!?

Will you please describe what you eat on a typical day?
Breakfast: Easiest is a skillet meal: Ground beef, bacon bits, butternut squash & leeks with fresh parsley for color. An apple and tea (with honey). Make a big batch so it lasts a few days.
Lunch: Salad with cucumbers, radish, dried cherries or cranberries. Homemade no noodle chicken noodle soup (made after I am done slicing the good meat off of a Costco chicken for previous meals), carrots, celery, swiss chard, onion, lotsa basil, thyme and garlic and a little turmeric for color). Left over pork tenderloins for extra protein. More fruit if I want something sweet.
Dinner: Pork tenderloins (breaded with coconut flour, basil, onion and garlic powder) fried in olive oil. Veggies on the side (yellow squash or broccoli or cauliflower or sweet potatoes...any veggies just not night shades) and salad. I use my crockpot a lot for chicken breasts and baby back ribs.
Pork tenderloins sliced 1/4 thick and breaded are a must have when I get snacky- very satisfying. So, I make those all of the time. Breakfast is the toughest meal to adjust to if you are used to coffee and a pastry- or an egg.
I had a weird craving for molasses cookies and found a AIP recipe for them. They turned out OK. Not like what real cookies are but they tasted good enough! :)

It was because of one of your posts some time ago that I was inspired to attempt this diet. Thank you so much for doing that!
I've been helped so much and have learned so much from all the nice ladies here doing their best they can living with this crappy weird disease.
I have a recipe book for the Paleo Diet. Do you think that would work the same way a AIP diet works? I have IBS and this book incorporates the FODMAP Diet for IBS with the Paleo. I am finally ready to try diet changes. I am so tired of skin flares and scalp flares. I have had FFA for years and have lost a great deal of hair. I have a great deal of scarring. I don't think I even care about the hair loss stopping anymore. LIE Who am I kidding? I want it STOP. I just am more interested in stopping all the other side effects from this condition. Much of what you eat on a typical day are things I am to avoid for IBS.
I have CKD so I have been used to a limited diet already. One thing with AIP is that avocados and bananas are popular ingredients and I can't eat those because of their high potassium content. I imagine with a little research you can find good AIP alternatives for your IBS required diet. There is a lot of reading in the beginning and then you learn how to adapt.

Oh my......kudos to you for being able to do that! I know myself, and I just wouldn't be able to put that kind of time and effort in to it. I'm sure it's SO very healthy for you! Good Luck to you.
I wonder if weight loss in general helps, at least for those who are overweight to begin with? I was reading that being overweight can contribute to a kind of constant low-grade inflammation, and it appears that some other autoimmune disorders can lessen in severity with weight loss.
