FFA and laser treatment

A few months ago I read an article in the paper saying that a dermatologist, Dr.Antonella Tosti, at the University of Florida, was seeing 80% hair regrowth in FFA patients using laser therapy.  Have any of you had experience with this method?

I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with FFA and am still losing hair at the hairline despite injections, doxycycline, and plaquinil.  I've had to cut way back on the plaquinil because it makes me depressed.  This forum is extremely helpful and I wish you all courage in dealing with this disorder.

TrayG, I have found that the so called "specialists" have the least compassion and do the least amount of research and actual work for their patients. I've had much better care by Physician's assistants (PAs) who have searched medical journals and researched alternativ treatment options. Don't give up! After one month, my insurance is still "pending" approval for the X -Trak laser, so I'm looking into "self-pay" - I'll let you know what happens. Hang in there! : ))

Thanks for your encouragement Jane, that's exactly how I felt after calling this dr - so cold and they were like "this is the deal" and started spewing off their fees etc.   I hung up and was like "I give up."  Please let me know how you make out and thank you again.  Best of luck to you.

I'm seeing a new Dr. in a couple of weeks so will mention this to him and see what he says. Sounds very hopeful.
