I'm so happy that I found this group. I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia a few days ago. It does explain a lot of things that I've noticed over the last 18 months, but I am still upset by the news. I noticed my thinning eyebrows, eyelashes and I didn't have to shave my legs and underarms very much over a year ago. I asked my primary doc but she didn't seem concerned. A few months ago I realized that a spot on my hairline was very thin. I chalked it up to bad genes - my paternal grandmother had very thin hair. I've always had a high forehead and fine hair so I think it was easier to miss my hair line receding.
I kept delaying a visit to the dermatologist for a rash on my scalp that wasn't getting better with otc medicated shampoo. She looked at my head for less than a minute and told me I had three different things going on - including the FFA. Now that I know i Can't believe I didn't notice the large spot on below my hairline that has shiny skin with no pores or hair.
So here I am, reading everything I can find. Wondering how much hair I will lose and how quickly. The Dr started the steroid injections, and I go back in 4 weeks. Don't know yet what will be next.
