Norm that's hilarious, I read your likes about alopecia, its wonderful to see the humor in all your posts.

cadane that's a serious benefit! the problem is when the hair is falling out in all the wrong places :P not the ones you usually shave.

Leesha, I too find some odd irony to all this aswell and being on the receiving end of kids teasing. I was first diagnosed with alopecia at 8yrs. Within a year I lost all my hair, including body hair. The irony being that my hair also grew back within a year and left me what so many adults find after shaving for the first time. There leg hair coming in dark and coarse. Well I also had to deal with the dark, coarse hair on my arms and dark hair under my chin and a mustache. Gone was the delightful peach fuzz of childhood. Having to shave and wax before 10yrs. Now Im once again AU, gone is the need to shave or wax, as an adult.
Life can definitely throw some curves and all we can do is laugh thru it.

Leesha, I know what you meen having very dark hair myself. The irony for me is that I still have my "mustasch" that I have been waxing for years. And now, since all my facial hair is pretty much gone, I thought finally... but no, still there. I'll probably end up with no hair except my mustach :P

Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie to alopecia..but I thought I would share some irony that I am finding quite amusing. Growing up in school I constantly got teased about having dark arm hair, and darkr facial hair (before I was old enough and tuned into waxing) I hated it! kids are cruel and I always was upset about it. As my adult life began I embraced my long, full, black hair and learned how to manage all of those other things. Now, here I am, a week ago I was diagnosed with alopecia areata. The Irony from too much to too little is funny to me, and that is what I have been giggling to myself about for days. My only hope is i can handle the loss better as adult, already having known the pain of getting teased or looked at as a child. On a much milder note.... You guys are all giving me hope and keeping me laughing. I can't wait to make new friends.

I have the same problem, babies here always get a knitted strawberry or blueberry beanie (google jordgubbsmossa). I NEED one but the only knitting patterns available are for babies, I have a small head, but not that small. I'm working on transforming the pattern.

O and now that I have one beanie I'm just gonna by jersey fabric and make one myself, printing the words with textile colour (?)(maybe that's swenglish?).

Haha yeah I love it. Mom has been saying that she has a bad hair life for years (this was befor i got alopecia). So i'm thinking i need a beanie that says "Bad hair life" or why not No hair day! Now whenever my mom says she has a bad hair life I roll my eyes and say "don't be so dramatic".
