Hi all. Through injuries I haven't been able to do what I used to do although I am back at the gym thank goodness. However my eating habits have deteriorated and I've put on a few kilos which I want to get rid of. Unfortunately my will power and my motivation is at an all time low. What have others done to kick start a new program?

What works for me is a high energy group fitness class. If you need low impact try spinning.
Why did I say spinning??? I should have said swimming.
Hmmm yes I was wondering about that Jeffrey!! ... swimming used to be my thing actually but haven't done it in ages.
Maybe try it again Pat.
Hi Pat, I am with you. I am having a hard time kick-starting my routine too. I seem to lack the commitment to actually get it done!
Since this post I've been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica and now I realise my 'injuries' were connected to this condition. I'm better than I was and although I still cast envious looks at people jogging by I can at least walk albeit painfully slow and not enough to get my heart rate up...oh well, one day I'll look back at these days and think..."remember when I used to be able to walk like that?" I guess everything is relative!
To any and all who read my post and found it offensive Pat and I are married (42 years) and we exercise together at night and during the day it pays to check your facts before being offended. Cheers John Pats husband
Cheers!!!
You are right John. Thanks for the lesson.
Well...going to the gym with John approx 4 times a week has helped me stick to a programme. It really helps when you go with a partner! We keep each other motivated, although in this area he's always been more motived than me :)
In addition to the gym, I'm now learning hoop! After seeing Kendall's video clip it inspired me so much I went out and bought a hoop and am learning the moves. If I ever get as good as Kendall I'll post a clip...but I predict that's gonna take a while. Kendall's started a hoop group on AW if want to join. John has already joined although he hasn't got a hoop! I'm thinking of making a few...how hard can it be :)
I was thinking of buying a hoop too, after watching Kyle's video. I emailed her for additional information and she sent it to me. We have just had a lot on our plates lately, so I have not taken the initiative to get the hoop.

How do you make a hoop? I guess I should ask that in the hoop group. ;)
Hi Cheryl, I looked on google and it was explained pretty well. Garden tubing, glue, heat {hairdryer} and tape! I hope you get a hoop and join us!
