Hi all. Through injuries I haven't been able to do what I used to do although I am back at the gym thank goodness. However my eating habits have deteriorated and I've put on a few kilos which I want to get rid of. Unfortunately my will power and my motivation is at an all time low. What have others done to kick start a new program?

The hoop is really working Hun you look great doing it xoxoxoxo

I from time to time have shoulder problems. This time it lasted a bit longer than usual and I backed off of my exercise routine, then got use to not doing it at all. I want to get started again and it is easier when I have a set time, but I realize that that is not possible for me right now. I have a lot of time restraints right now, but I do realize that many people also have difficult time restraints and have gotten it done. So I know I have to "just do it" and stop the excuses. I think I will start by sitting down and writing down all my restraints/excuses and come up with a solution for each, whether I chose to allow it to stop me or not -- At least that way I will have to admit, that if there is a will there is a way. It is a matter of how badly do I really want it. So, I would be interested in any suggestions?

I've been exercising regularly for 15 years now. if i don't I feel like ugh!
My routine is 3 days a week of Cardio Kickboxing with some weights and stretching afterwards. It takes me an hour a day 3 days a week.
There are lots of gyms out there with classes to get you motivated and have some fun with your routine.
I have been doing my routine at a local Martial Arts Studio for the past year.
Hope you find this helpful.

When I am exercising... I love it! I don't mind sweating, I don't mind pushing myself physically a little bit. It is just the "kickstart" I have a really bad tendency of letting other things take precedence.

The hardest part of exercise is walking out the door.

Ain't that right John! A few year back I used to drive to the gym whether I wanted to go or not and give myself permission not to enter if I really didn't want to when I got there. That gives me a great idea. I should make it a point to get dressed, cue up the DVD player and give myself permission to skip it if I still really don't want to do it. I found that when I use to do that, perhaps I skipped out only a few times. For sure I did the workout more than I skipped out. The thought was that I was already there, I might as well just do it. Thanks for letting me "talk" this out. I will let you know how it works out ;)

yeh that's so true John. It helps so much that we've mainly exercised together whether jogging or gym work. It's good to have a partner or friend to go along with just to keep me on my toes. Once I'm at the gym I'm good to go. Getting into a routine is the main thing so I don't have to think about it as the more I think about getting ready to go the more I talk myself out of it!

I too would like to get back to the gym - I am not comfortable going without my wig on though....which gets really hot on my head while working out...any suggestions how to stay cool with out taking my hair off??

Hi Mary, would you consider a bandanna or scarf? Also, I used to wear an older/cheaper wig to the gym.
