Good evening everyone!

I have a question for everyone here: I have EXTREMELY oily skin (which I manage to hide very well with oil-free makeup), and unfortunately, that oiliness has managed to extend to my scalp. I'm totally bald and I go out in public that way, but I find that I have to wash my face and my scalp at least twice a day; otherwise, at any given point I can just run my hand across my head and come off with a fine layer of oil in my hand, which is disgusting to say the least. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Professional theatrical suppliers have Anti-Shine product base for stage and screen. So actors don't look like they're breaking into a sweat under the hot lights. Goes under regular makeup, too. I have used it for spot locations on the face, but not over my whole head.

I have a question when you wash your face do you put lotion on? This is every important because when you wash your face you strip all the the natural oils away from it causing your skin to produce more oils, due to not using lotion. I would invest in a good matifying lotion. Also if you shampoo your scalp, have you tried some kind of balancing shampoo? I have problems too with an oily scalp where I lost hair, I use Head and Shoulders and it seems to regulate it. Also oil-absorbent blotting papers are very useful too, and you can carry them around in your purse. Maybe try dusting translucent lose power over your scalp too that absorbs oil too.
Im curious did you try the Anti-Shine base?
Using shampoo on a scalp with no hair is not the way to go. Shampoo is formulated to clean hair, not skin. Treat your scalp as an extension of your face and cleanse, tone and moisturize the same way - each time you cleanse your face. To refresh your scalp during the day use as astringent, toner or witch hazel. I carry cotton squares moistened with an astringent in a zip-loc type cosmetic bag for use during the day. Be sure to use an oil-free moisturizer your scalp if you are experiencing excessive oil or shine. The oil-absorbent blotting papers are great, and as Francie points out they are easy to carry. Translucent powder, loose or pressed just creates an additional mess to deal with. The Anti-Shine product that Thea mentions is also a good choice, but it can also clog the pores and cause excessive itching. So if you are going to use it be sure to cleanse every night before going to bed.

If the product you are using is a new one, please spot test it in the area directly behind your ear to be sure you are not allergic or sensitive to it. What works for one person may not work for another the same way.

This is not uncommon. There are little paper oil-blotting sheets on the market. Rite-Aid has a house brand and Boscia has a green tea variety. Just press these to your skin when it becomes oily. Don't drag, as that will remove make-up. Finding a good powder helps, too, but that won't remove the oil like the paper does.....
I found some fantastic oil-blotting sheets by Shiseido when I was at Sephora a few weeks ago; needless to say they go wherever I go!! And MAC has the best powder I've ever seen -- gotta love that Blot Powder over the Studio Fix!!
This is something that works for me, so it might help you as well. Before I put on my makeup, I wash my face in water as cold as I can stand it. It closes your pores so your makeup stays on better and doesn't absorb into your skin. It also reduces the oiliness of my skin. Also, I drink A LOT of water through out the day; it's pretty much the only thing I drink besides juice. I never did this before, but after a couple months, I noticed my skin cleared up and was much less oily than before.
Interesting read -- I will try this!! Thanks a lot!!
