So next week I go to see the alopecia expert in my state. Among other things I am planning on learning more about anti-rejection pills. I understand this is what organ transplant patients take to keep their body from rejecting their new organ. What I want to know is about the side affects and about the chances of this working. If the chances of it working are low and it is going to make me feel not my best, I don't think it would be worth it to put myself through that.

What alopecia doctor are you going to go see? We have only been to one of the better pediatric dermatologists at Primary Children's, but are always looking for more advice.

I went to see Dr. Kruger. He is very nice. He also gave the facts to me straight and I feel I know more now what the possibilities are. Is your sister Elisabeth who works at OC Tanner? If so, my sister Erin works with her and you are the one who emailed me!
Oh sorry, I only had your first name when I emailed you and just didn't make the connection. I'm glad you found a doctor that you are comfortable with. Best of luck!
I had my first round with alopecia 2 years ago with about 38% of my hair patchy with several spots. I took the steroid injections and the hair came back slowly. Now I am having another flare up and there are several more spots this time, started off small and getting bigger. I had a round of the steroid injections last week, however I have sevearl more spots since then, and this time the spots are itching. Don't remember that from last time. I have never heard of any other options other than the injections, so am surprised about the anti rejection meds for this? I lost a brother to juevinile diabetes after a kidney transplant, and do know that those drugs are very powerful. Not sure why they would be used for alopecia, but would like to know what other options there are?
