I was diagnosed with AA. AU hasn't been ruled out. I have lost hair in other areas. My hair loss starts at the front of my head, almost like a receding hair line but it looks like an incomplete circle. I still have hair on my head, although it's getting progressively worse. But, my eyebrows are starting to fall out. Is this normal? I'm still new to this and what I've read and come across it seems that people lose all their hair and then their eyebrows.

I'll tell you my story, I grew up with the thickest hair ever, always got comments when i went to get my hair cut, so im not sure if that had anything to do with it or not, but i noticed my eyebrows were falling out before i even seen a bald spot on my head, i wasnt paying attention since i had no idea what was going on, but it started in the middle of my right eyebrow and went to the right so i only have a little patch of my right eyebrow left when my other eyebrow started to go in the middle. I have yet to see a dermatologist and its been 2 years... my appointment is next week actually, i am thinking i have AU now but when i first had it it was only AA.. not sure if that helps you any but my eyebrows and body hair went more than my head hair, now all my body hair is gone and ive only a bit on my head left.

Mine all seemed to go, more or less, at the same time. I had been diagnosed with "aggressive AA," but it was only 3-4 months before it was obviously developing into AU. The very first spot that I noticed was on my arm. It's frustrating to not have any idea where this condition is taking you. That is one of the most annoying things of AA/AU... it goes where it wants and there's no predictability. It was helpful for me to take steps where I could to feel more in control... learn about wigs/hair pieces, buy a new hat, research make up tattoos, etc. Hang in there!

Yes, I lost my eyebrows then my eye lashes.
I am know totally without hair - AU.
Hard but getting used to it
just trying to find a wig that works
stay strong

Yes. Me. My alopecia began with one section on one eyebrow. I just filled it in with a pencil for a while but it got worse. Initially, my dermatologist didn't diagnose - just gave me cortisone cream to apply and steroid injections. It grew back...for 6 months. Then I lost more of it. Then it began on the other eyebrow. I dealt with this for a few years until it moved to my head. Once it moved to my head I was finally diagnosed with alopecia. My eyebrows come and go but right now it's my head that I'm most concerned about. It's falling out quite rapidly and I'm feeling horrible about it. I find brows are easier to fake than hair on my head but I find it all quite upsetting.

You sound exactly like what I'm going through! Receding hairline and half an eyebrow is gone. I also have smaller bald patches in the back of my head. Yesterday I got a brow pencil/gel and brush and I have to practice how to put on brows. I got them at Target. You're not alone!
My eyebrows are both about 1/2 gone and it is also on my scalp...at the temples and hairline. The dermatologist said it was frontal fibrosing alopecia but that this type is very rare. Has anyone else been told they have FFA?

Yes, my eye brows went first and then the hair on my temples. My hair line has receeded as well .  I just had a scalp biopsy and it is FFA.

i lost nearly all the hair on my head during the last two weeks of July.I thought that was it!

about 3 weeks ago my eyebrows started going and now they are all gone:(

eyebrows were definitely harder to deal with, for me.

no underarm or body hair at all.  since the onset with so rapid....  I am holding out hope my hair will return.

Good luck Rugs!
